Help! Should I switch my major?

So, I started out freshmen year as a Journalism major, but switched to Literature because Journalism was too competitve and I hadn't realized what I was getting myself into. I took all Gen. Eds that year and enjoyed my Lit class, but had to withdraw from college at the end of the year because I couldn't get financial aid. I'm taking a year off and am saving up to go back, but have discovered my love of fashion. And now I have no idea what to do. I enjoy fashion/styling a lot, and I could def make a career out of it, but I'm not sure. I like Lit, but I don't want to teach or write, but the department's like family. I could do Fashion Merchandising w/ a Brit. Lit minor, but it would mean taking 5 credits over the graduation requirement and I'd have to take boring classes like Econ (so my Soc credits would end up as electives), Ethics, and Accounting. Or I could remain a Lit major and just take some fashion classes as electives, which means I could take other classes for fun. What should I do???

I have a friend who majored in English but loves fashion. She has been in Manhattan for a few years now doing editing for an online home decorative company (hgtv online site??). Anyway, she just got a job with some "famous" fashion designer and is very excited. I guess if you want to learn how to make clothes none of this helps but the point is you can find a way into the fashion world if you want to. Just make sure after your break you go back!
