Learn Portuguese

For those of you considering what language to study, consider Portuguese. It would be a great complement to business, IR, etc.

They only offer intro sequence in Portuguese at my U. My grandparents spoke it though. They would switch into it when they didn't want to be understood.

^ If you're at U Washington, that's somewhat surprising since there's a Center for Brazilian Studies in the Jackson School. It's part of the Latin American Studies Program, so probably most people in that concentration focus on Spanish and some will pick up Portuguese only as a related language. I think the growing importance of Brazil is not yet fully on people's radar.

My son is looking for a college that offers beginning Portuguese in the summer- either in the United States or in Brazil. He needs college credit for the class. Any suggestions?
