From History major to Poli Sci Major Sophomore UCI

I am a sophomore attending UC Irvine majoring in history. Recently I've found myself searching job opportunities for history majors and have become disillusioned with my field of study. I feel as though I majored in history because I really like studying it but cannot see myself working in the future if I major in history, maybe as a professor but then again I just cannot see myself being in school that long (Ph.D) and accumulating debt for a job I may or may not find in this economic climate. My school's history program is not even that great so I'm thinking of switching majors. I can see myself being a poli sci major, and working in government or maybe going to law school. I just started taking classes for my history major so if I do decide to switch I will minor in history and major in poli sci. My question is: Does this sound like a good plan/ decision to anyone?
I appreciate any related input Thank You!

Since I am in my last quarter as a sophomore, do you think its too late to switch? Poli Sci at my school requires 44units.
Also I'd be switching for better job/internship opportunities, so do you think it would be wise/beneficial to switch from history to poli sci for that purpose.
(Also I suck at math and the sciences bore me so those are not an option)

A few things:

There's no prereqs for law school. If that's what you want to do after undergrad, jumping from History to Political Science is really not going to make any impact on either your admission prospect nor your ability to do well (fyi: the majors who, on average, perform the best on the LSAT are Math/Comp Sci)

However, if you don't see a future for yourself in History then there's no good reason why you shouldn't switch (barring restrictions from your institution.) There are people who completed their entire undergrad doing History, earned their degree in it, then switched over to Poli Sci for grad school; I think you'll be fine.
