has anyone in this forum ever worked on wall street or knows someone who does can u make a lot of money? i read a post in another forum that some businesses on wall street hire people with any kind of degree not just business alone and i was wondering if this is true,that can u have a liberal arts degree and still work on wall street or u only have to have a business degree to work there

true, you can major in math, chem, bio, econ, etc.
my uncle majored in bio from a small pvt. christian school and went to med school. (he was forced to be a doc) after that he decided to go to i-banking and now he's a manager of for bank of america (chicago division). well, he may not be in wall street but he's in the i-banking industry w/out a business degree.

yes, you can get into the Investment Banking industry with any major or field of study but you have to at least show a dedicated commitment to finance or business through previous work experience and/or extracurricular activities.

If you're an english major for example, you should be part of an Investment Club at your school and get a leadership position to show that you truly are interested in finance. Or find an internship doing financial analysis. You can't just apply for these wall street jobs without showing the level of commitment necessary to stand out from the crowd.

I-banks really do want a diverse range of people because that's what makes a business succeed. So they won't exclusively look towards business majors and nobody else. Keep in mind, that if you do major in something like English or liberal arts, you have to EXCEL at your own major for you to even be considered. Anywhere below a 3.5 and it's gonna be very tough to land an interview let alone a job.
