How To Figure It Out

I am in my first quarter of freshman year, and I have realized that I'm not sure what I want to study. I mean I have it narrowed down to several areas, but not all of them are related. What would be the best way to figure out what to do? And do you think talking to an adviser would be helpful at all?

Make appointments to visit with a faculty member in each of the departments. Make a list of questions that you'd like to ask each one. See if there are gatherings of majors - perhaps a departmental club or honor society - that you could attend to gauge the culture and enthusiasm of the group.
