For economics + math double major: Hamilton or Bucknell?

Hamilton College or Bucknell?

Both good liberal arts schools. Both have amazing economics alumnus. But I was wondering in terms of prestige, education quality, and placement for grad school, which of these two schools is better.

both are good liberal arts schools!

if your goal is to either work after graduation or attend graduate school in economics, i think the programs at both schools will suit you very well. as a result, if either is the case, just pick the one you like more.

that said, bucknell does boast a stronger mathematics department. not so much stronger that its going to matter if attending graduate school in mathematics isnt on your mind. but if it is a possibility, i would seriously consider bucknell, which boasts a significantly larger (14 more faculty) and more diverse department that has a history of producing future phds. in fact, per the most recent available nsf data, only 20 american private colleges of ANY size (including only three lacs, st olaf, reed and oberlin) produce more mathematics phds than bucknell. that list of 20 EXCLUDES duke, dartmouth, johns hopkins, wash u, notre dame, carnegie mellon, georgetown, emory, vanderbilt, tufts, wake forest, nyu, boston college, lehigh, rochester, brandeis and, obviously, many more. heck, bucknell produced as many math phds as rochester, colgate and hamilton... COMBINED.
