Is USC Kinesiology respectable?

I want to go to med school, but I'm also interested by physical therapy, so I figured kinesiology may help me satisfy both of those. But is kinesiology at USC (Southern California) a major that is respected by the general public, or more importantly, med schools? Or is it considered the "jock major?"

Kinesiology is pretty tough IMO. There's a lot of biophysical classes one must take. You cannot compare kinesiology to personal training, per se. Lots of biology, physics, and depending on the program, nutrition is going to be involved in your undergraduate study. Most kinesiologists are also massage therapists as well. A lot of them get hired by professional sports teams and mostly work with trained athletes.

The best med school major is the one where you will get the highest possible gpa, so you should decide if kinesiology will allow you to do that

Physical Therapy

U.S. News ranked USC's Physical Therapy Program as No. 1. I have no idea where one might find rankings for a Kinesiology major.
I suggest checking the website and viewing the list of faculty and courses offered. As far as I know there are no football players enrolled in this major.
