Public affairs and services major???

What the hell is a public affairs and services major? I want to get into social work and it seems like PAS fits me, but I'm not exactly sure on what it is. What's the description and what can you do with it?

Sounds school specific. Look at the course of study for the school.

It sounds like preparation for a career in the public sector: social work, government, etc.

Social work will require a specific degree.

Public Affairs is a general degree preparing for gov't and non profit service. It sounds like a good degree....but be warned that most gov't jobs either don't require a specific degree (just a degree in general) or require a specific knowledge area (ex IT, finance). A general gov't degree will only allow you to compete for the general areas, and any liberal arts or other major can also apply for those areas.
