I need help figuring out what I need to major in

What should i major in so that i can be able to help people? I was thinking Peace and Conflict Studies, International Studies-Sociology, Anthropology, Sociology, or Politics. Is it true that the Sociology major is a joke? Also I would like to go to a UC for the prestige. I am sorry if my goal of helping people is vague- I am not completely sure how to help people or what needs helping. I mostly just want to be able to organize and research to provide a better understanding of human rights and social issues for advocators and the public.

Just start helping people----volunteer in your community. You'll find plenty of unmet needs.

Sociology is not a joke. It seems that it would fit you. I see many jobs postings in social services requiring a bachelor's in sociology, psychology, or a related social science. It would also be good preparation for a Master's of Social Work (MSW) if you are interested in grad school.
