English grad studies advice, please?

Hey all,

I'm British and am currently an undergraduate English major at university in the UK. I have my heart set on applying for postgrad studies in Canada this year and I'm working on appications to U of T, McGill and Concordia.

Basically, as the Canadian educative system is unfamiliar to me (because I've studied in Britain up until now), I would like to know what needs to be covered in the statement of proposed research.

Could anybody please give me an idea? (Step by step sort of instructions would be amazing, but really ANY advice whatsoever would be very much appreciated.)

Seeing as this is urgent and I have no idea where to start, I could REALLY use some suggestions :-\

Many thanks indeed and I look forward to hearing back from you
