Notre Dame Econ or U of Illinois Business

What do you think would be a better degree to have if I plan on persuing a MBA after undergraduate:
An Economics degree from Notre Dame
An Economics degree from University of Illinois(Urbana-Champaign)
A business degree from University of Illinois(Urbana-Champaign)
Thanks

econ @ u of i

I'm currently a junior at U of Illinois pursuing a bachelor's degree in Economics. I don't know too much about Notre Dame but I know a lot about the business program and econ program here.

If you like economics, go to u of i. I like economics a lot and I am pleased with the econ program. I actually just declared econ as my major in the beginning of my junior year. I want to go into the business field once i graduate. U of i business consistently ranks top in the country. If you're going to apply to u of i, I recommend that you apply to the business school and if you get in, you can major in some of the traditional business programs such as finance, accounting (accounting is ranked top 5 in the country) but if you still want to do econ, you could transfer into the college of liberal arts & sciences. It's wayyy easier to transfer into LAS than it is to transfer into business once you're a student here. Also, i'm pretty sure the business programs require you to take micro and macroeconomics your first year here so you would be able to test out the subject and see if you like it. If you don't get into the business school, you may still be able to get into LAS in which case you would be able to declare economics.

One other thing, if you're an Illinois resident, you will qualify for in state tuition which is a hell of a lot cheaper than notre dame. U of I has increasingly become a top tier public university and has even been dubbed as "public ivy" by some credible sources (i don't know exactly what source off the top of my head). The university keeps jacking up admissions also so good luck getting in.

But i'm thinking of pursuing an MBA after i graduate and work for a few years. I really think the u of i econ program is a good start if you plan on pursuing an MBA in the future
