Yes, a cab can get you from the airport to the school, about a 15 min ride usually. However, the airport does also have several car rental companies set up right at the airport - Thrifty, Budget, etc are reasonable and the area is pretty easy to navigate. If you or your daughter would like to chat w/ our son, I'm sure he'd be happy to help out with whatever you might like to know or steer you in the direction of the proper answer. Enjoy your visit! |

| Thanks abparent. Actually, we did rent a car at the airport when we came to auditions. It was more of a parental question. If I fly her there, I want to be sure she can get from the airport to school. I am sure the kids probably help each other out also.
Your son linus2004 emailed us. That was very nice of him and helpful. Maybe we can meet him next Thursday and thank him in person. |

| It's official! We made it official today and mailed off D's tuition deposit card and talent award agreement. I guess the next step will be orientation and housing? |

| Yes, my son made it official also, I will be mailing in the acceptance letter and the housing deposit. We are from Ohio. Luckily we won't have to worry about the airport - but several of his friends will be attending OSU - is there a bus line between the two schools??
On the note of bunking beds, my d attends OU and she lofted her bed freshman year (the other roommate didnot). She didn't like it as there was no place to 'sit' and she didn't like having to climb up and down ..... Maybe it's a girl thing ...... She switched after one quarter and life was much better!! |

| I'm the starlight... Did you already receive something on housing?
My Oldest D attends Ohio State too and there is NOT a campus bus that goes to and from the airport. She normally takes a cab and it costs about $25 one way with tip. The COTA bus does go to and from the airport to OSU's campus. BTW, I found out the COTA bus does go to Westerville and the kids at Otterbein can hop on it and go shopping or to OSU etc. There is a map you can click on, on their site but it's a little hard to read. I think I will contact them to find out routes, fares etc for the Otterbein kids. The fare is included in the OSU kids tuition and all they have to do is show their Buck ID card to ride. Here's the link to their site: http://www.cota.com/transit_maps.asp |

No, I was wrong - it wasn't the housing - it was to 'hold' the spot! Got ahead of myself.
Thanks for the info on the bus

| NanE and Im the Starlight,
Butting in, I know, but the COTA bus usually isn't recommended. I've heard it's kind of iffy as far as quality and such.
Also, I bunked my bed first quarter and took it down because I just didn't like it. Depends person to person. In Mayne Hall, however, the dorm I'd recommend for ItS's son, you can't loft, but you can bunk. In Clements, an all girl, all freshman dorm where a lot of my friends are living, you can bunk or loft. It differs from dorm to dorm.
Let me know if you folks or your students have any questions! |

| I wanted to post this on this thread as well.
My D and I attended the Presidential Scholarship Dinner and I must say everything was done very nicely. My D will be a MTD in the fall. The student presentations were wonderful and the state building was beautiful. We both thought the young lady with the molecular biology presentation was awesome. My D spent the night in one of the dorms, felt the students could not have been friendlier, and included her as if she was an old friend not a newbie. We just arrived home tired from the drive, but very excited about Otterbein.
MTaussie my D thinks she met you son in the dance class she took. She said he was great. I think they reminisced about competition days.

| 2BRN2B . . . Yes, I'm pretty sure our kids met yesterday. You're from St.Louis, right? . . . he said he had met a new MTD girl in class yesterday but I wasn't sure if it was your D or if Otterbein had taken 2 MTD girls for next year. Did they exchange contact info? Let me know . . . S is not here right now but I will ask him when he gets back. |

| I don’t know if Otterbein has taken 2 MTD girls for next year that would be great. Yes, we are from St. Louis. I don’t know if they exchanged email contact info or not. My D isn’t home either. Does your S every do Face Book? She really enjoyed her visit, and said your son is very good. Did you ever get the email I sent you via CC. I am new to CC, and I am not sure I sent it correctly?
NanE and Im the Starlight sounds like our kids might be working together next year! |

| Hi, I am a new member and just getting into this....Can you tell me where is Otterbein? Is it associated with a University? Is the Presedential Dinner the prize one wins from the Ntional Foundation of Advancement of Arts? Is that the only way that a kid can get a merit scholarship for these programs? Surprised your a new member, it seems like you have already been through the process. |
