| Good question. If they meant that ONLY two scores (critical reading and math) were counted, then the limit would be 1650; with the new SAT, the highest possible score is 2400, so they *must* be talking about the best scores (possibly, from several testing sessions) in critical reading, writing and math, all added up. |

| That's what I thought but I kept reading it over thinking I was missing something really obvious. Reading all these websites becomes mind-numbing at some point. I'm certainly not directing this at Otterbein in any way because the info is easy to find there, but some of the others are more akin to a scavenger hunt. |

| audition date question My D was set to audition for both the MT and Acting programs in NOv., but, as to be expected, she has a performance the evening before, and we can't make the 6 hour trip that late! Is it possible to audition at Otterbein for both programs? Does one refer to the other? Or, more to the point, if we come for an MT audition, do the Acting dept. auditioners see her as well? or does it mean 2 trips?
Thanks! |

| I *think* that kids who audition for MT can be considered for the acting major. In fact, I pretty clearly remember at least one person who auditioned last year for musical theater and was waitlisted for acting. In other words, I don't think it means two trips; I think that kids can do both simultaneously. To be sure, hwover, call the drama dept at Otterbein. They are quite nice about answering questions. Just for the record, I think kids can audition for Otterbein at Unifieds, too. |

| Thanks! I was planning on calling, but also hoping someone here might weigh in! I know they are at Unifieds, and we've thrown the NY unifieds around, but she is seeing this asher chance to get a feel for the campus and the kids. We're kind of making the audition process part of the decision tree. |

| sarahlsmom: I can provide the definitive answer. NotMamaRose is correct. When students audition for the Musical Theatre degree, they are simultaneously considered for the Acting degree. Actually, MT auditioners are considered for the following placements:
BFA in Musical Theatre
BFA in Musical Theatre with a Concentration in Dance
BFA in Acting
BA in Theatre
BM in Vocal Performance (Music)
BA in Music
Dance Minor
No need to make two trips. Hope this helps.

| doctorjohn, I thought I would call tomorrow to find out, but perhaps you know whether the essay topics for scholarship consideration are up to date. There are 5 I believe from which to choose. At some point, it seemed that they might be changed. |

| catera, I think that the application and essay question for scholarship (which is right there on the regular application now, online) are up to date. I say this because my D started filling out her online app in late August and what's there has now changed. The online app now explains that if a kid wants to apply for a scholarship, she can submit an essay on various topics (listed right there on the online app) and that part was not there when my D began the process. |

| I thought I would make sure, because they are the same ones that were there when I posted on September 1 asking if they were up to date. Maybe they actually went up that day if they weren't there the end of August. My D had printed them out then but had not started the actual writing. |

I just talked to Debbie Byrne in our Admissions Office. The new application forms went online yesterday, September 19. So if you apply online now, you will see the form which includes the scholarship essay prompts. There are three of them, the last one of which is "Write an essay of your choice." The two others are previous prompts (numbers 2 and 5).
What this means is that if you've already written a scholarship essay, you do not have to throw it out. Debbie tells me that the College will accept an essay written to any of our earlier prompts.
Hope this helps. Post again or write to me directly if you have any questions. |

| Oh boy - now I'm really confused. Is this the link for the Scholarship Application? This still has the 5 prompts. Is there another app I'm missing? http://www.otterbein.edu/admission/A...arship_app.asp |

| cartera, the easiest way to handle this, I think, is through the *regular* application. You go through and toward the end, there is a paragraph or so about the scholarship. It gives you the prompts for the essays and a link. I may well be wrong, but it appeared to my daughter and me that this was an all-in-one way to apply for the scholarship, because it instructs the student about the essay and such right there, and the activities list that the scholarship app asks for already are listed in the regular application. (I think it says something like check here if you are applying for the scholarship, and then send the essay directly to Otterbein's admissions office.) Of course, it behooves your kid or you to call or email the Admissions Office (Debbie Byrne is very nice) and she can tell you if I am correct about this! Good luck. |

| Just got an email saying that after you submit the online application, a prompt will appear that includes the scholarship application with essay options. My D ended up writing one based on the quote she chose for her senior yearbook. She just got inspired by it. I hope it really doesn't matter if you choose your own topic rather than using one of the suggested ones. |
