That's weird, because my D submitted hers (with an essay) last week and no prompt came up. The questions were just part of the online application and she simply cut and pasted her essay (also on a topic of her choice) into the window provided. Hmm. Curiouser and curiouser.

Yes, it was like that last week because my D actually put hers in but had not submitted it yet because we are working through some audition date issues. Today, after the email, I checked and it is no longer there. I'm sure either way is fine as long as it gets there.

Either way will be fine, I'm told. It turns out that putting the scholarship essay on the application webpage was creating some confusion--with a significant drop in applications--so they've separated the essay. That's essentially the way it was before. There's no need to worry about it, however, since one of the options has always been an essay of your choice.

Just to clarify: the essay is required for scholarships, not for admission.

Hope this helps.

Doctorjohn....Just want to say that the people in admissions have been most helpful with this, as well as the lady scheduling auditioins (my d has been in contact with her, so i don't know her name). Please let them know that their efforts are much appreciated!

Weird things happening. I just got an email thanking my D for her online application, but she hasn't sent it yet. I called the school and they don't have her in the system yet and they don't know where the email came from. Anyone else getting emails? The woman I spoke to thinks that the company handling the apps may have sent it out by mistake but the return address is admissions@otterbein.edu

My heart was in my throat when I saw the email because I thought I must have sent it by mistake when I looked at it yesterday with regard to the scholarship app.
