TheatreJock, I seem to recall they want a class of 8, but your best bet would be to look back over this thread or even send an e-mail to Doctor John (see post #176 above, click on his name, and you'll get a link to his e-mail address).

Dear Mezzomom and illinisue and anothermomwithquestions:

Thanks so much for the kind words. We do try. And thanks, amwqs, for the link about the end of prohibition in Westerville. I've been grateful for the lack of bars on the edge of campus; it's made this a safer campus. But I don't regret the change. It's historically significant, but will have little real effect. Two restaurants near campus were given permission to serve beer and wine with meals. It's not as if College Avenue had just been turned into High Street. I don't forsee voters approving anything like that.

Theatrejock, the answer is that we're aiming for 4 men and 4 women MT majors, and 4 men and 4 women Acting majors. Men have a much better chance of receiving an offer than do women, because there are fewer auditioning. My records show that we've made first round offers to about 14% of our male applicants and around 3% of our female applicants.

Hope this helps.

I'm just so excited!

My daughter received a phone call from the Director of Choral Activities at Otterbein today, and she's been accepted into the music program with a significant talent award. My daughter won't make a final decision until all her colleges have been heard from, but Otterbein has transformed from "academic safety" to "safety I love and would gladly attend." Funny thing is, on the drive down to Otterbein for her audition, she was saying that she really wasn't sure why she was auditioning since she didn't think she wanted to major in music. Immediately after her audition, her "tune" changed to "this is the one school where I can see myself majoring in music, just so I can learn from these wonderful professors." It's been a good day...!

Congratulations to your daughter!!! That is very exciting! It's a very nice feeling to get such an affirmation. She'll have a fine option now to consider. Enjoy the feeling.

it says that at unifieds you will "demonstrate your dance ability"....does this mean bring jazz gear?

ToTheStage: That won't be necessary. Just wear clothes you feel comfortable moving in. We'll be working on carpet, unfortunately, so there's no need for full gear. See you soon.

but you do have to bring dance clothes to change into then I'm guessing...otterbein gave me a fairly specific audition time though, so am I to assume that the dance part of it will be after the voice/monologue? sorry, you probably don't know about all that-wait...are you from otterbein?....confused!

Yes, Dr. John is from Otterbein and will probably conduct your audition. My d auditioned with him and she wore her nice audition dress. She was simply asked to do a "time step" from tap, then a couple more tap moves and a couple of other dance moves. Nothing you couldn't do comfortably in what you wear for your audition.......shoes removed, of course. All of this followed her vocal and monologue part. I don't think anyone wore dance clothes to the otterbein audition.

Hi
My daughter did the audition for Musical Theatre with dance concentration at Otterbein at NY Unifieds and was told ahead of time by Otterbein to wear her dance clothes to the audition, which she did, so I guess it depends on your type of audition.
