Can anyone share from experience what the audition is like at Pace? How much time to allow? What order does Pace do things in? How many people attend the on site auditions etc. Thanks so much!

Ditto. Also, do they do any regionals? The website is not very helpful in this regard.

My D is a freshman BFA Acting major at Pace. Although I can't comment too specifically on the MT process, I believe that the MT auditionees went into the theater to sing first for Amy Rogers but I'm not sure what they did afterwards. Another interesting thing is that the BFA acting auditionees were videotaped when they did her monologues, which is something that did not happen at any of her other auditions. Perhaps the MT auditionees are videotaped as well.

They had a morning and afternoon session on our audition day with an hour-long information session in-between at which the chairpersons of the MT and BFA acting departments (Amy Rogers and Ruis Woertendyke) spoke and answered questions. My D was in the morning session and I would guestimate that there were about 30 MT and 30 BFA acting auditionees in that session.

One very nice touch at the auditions was that the current theater students who were helping out cheered everytime someone went in to do their audition, which was very supportive.

I am almost positive that Pace does not have regional auditions, at least they didn't last year, but you should check this out with the school.

Also, you have to send in your entire application to Pace before you can schedule an audition. I hope that this information is helpful.

Does anyone know when they're going to post audition dates? Also, are MT applicants allowed to do Early Action? It doesn't say on their website. =\

Okay, my early action audition was yesterday. Just a heads up, the directions on their site say you can take the N train to City Hall Plaza... but the N train takes you to Brooklyn, and it's kinda hard to get a cab in Brooklyn (I found that out the hard way!). I was 20 minutes late, but they were a bit behind and there were still two people to go before me... the girl in the holding room was very nice; she offered to change the lineup a bit a give me some more time to get ready but I was all set.

The audition was held in just a regular room... they had me stand on a tape line and I sang my two songs and then performed my monologue. The accompanist was great; I was a bit worried about my second song because the first thing my voice teacher said when she looked at it was "I'll just play your vocal line so I don't mess you up." (: but he was perfect and quite nice. I completely blanked out halfway into my monologue, but I suppose I covered well enough (I hope, anyway!). They asked me a couple questions, about my dance experience and whether I was applying to any acting programs or just musical theatre and then I asked a couple questions and then that was that!

After everyone was done, four of us had to take music theory placement tests (new students had to take it- there were some girls auditioning to change majors). It was really simple, thankfully- the only part I had trouble with was identifying intervals, because I'm horrible at that. It was all subjects that have been covered in my intro to music theory class so far, fortunately.

It was a great experience for my first audition; everyone was very friendly and helpful. Afterwards we went to see Ragtime, which I guess was an understudy run through, and it was wonderful! And Pace is right by The Strand bookstore which is an extra 10 points in my mind. (:

sorry about the train mix up on the wbesite.. if anyone does need to take the "yellow" line .. the R and W go to City Hall. Hopefully they fix that soon....
