| Auditioned on Saturday Okay, so hello there veryone. I just wanted to share my experiences with you auditioning for Pace's Musical Theatre program on Saturday 2/2.
So, I had never taken the subway before, so I got lost and wound up in Brooklyn, so I was late to the audition. Luckily, the people were very nice and understanding about it, and I auditioned almost as soon as I got to the theatre. That was nice.
Now, I don't really know how I did. I mean, I think I sang the songs fine and all, but I don't know. They had me sing my uptempo song again, which was We Beseech Thee from Godspell. Amy discussed the song with me, and discussed what I was supposed to be feeling, and asked me to do it again with all of those things in mind. Afterwards, she thanked me for doing that for her.
Now, I don't know if that means that she thought that I acted the song very badly when I first sang it, so I am really nervous about that. That has been on my mind a lot, that I might have screwed that up.
My ballad was fine, and my monologue was so-so. It's a weird, short monologue that is comedic, but it doesn't show a whole lot of acting. I did it because I love the play, and I wanted to try to at least make their audition experience a little more enjoyable, while sharing a show that I love. Hopefully, they liked it.
Like others, no musical theory test. I didn't really get an interview, they just asked me where I was from and how I was feeling and all that. So, bad sign again?
I must say though, the woman playing piano was amazing, and everyone there was so nice. The audition room was very very relaxed, and I wasn't really nervous. The judges were super comforting and nice, so that is a plus.
I love the school, and I really really hope that I get into the dept., though I don't really see that happening. Am I right in assuming that I can audition again next year if I choose to go to the school anyway?
Oh, and we saw a song from Tick..Tick..BOOM performed, and I love the song. They sang it very well, expecially after only one rehearsal! Is this performance open to the public? I'd love to come and see it!
Alrighty, thanks for listening. |
