| College Student Found Dead With Electric Cord Around Neck, Bag in Mouth
NEW YORK — New York City police say they believe a college student was suffocated by a man he invited to his home. They are questioning the man and say they expect to charge him.
Police say 19-year-old Kevin Pravia was found in his bed Sunday night with an electric cord around his neck and a bag stuffed into his mouth. He was last seen being helped into a taxi early Saturday after a party.
Police say a 22-year-old Queens man, being questioned in an unrelated case, has admitted suffocating Pravia with a pillow and stealing his cell phone, laptop and iPod.
The man claims Pravia approached him for drugs and then invited him to his apartment.
Pravia, who was a sophomore at Pace University, originally was from Peru, Mass.
