They basically just want to see if the student is genuine and is headed abroad to actually study.

I suppose by now you all know of today's developments. I will just say be careful incase anti Pakistani/Muslim/Arab sentiment spikes, esp down south.

^ I think reality is quite opposite. This should give you more of an advantage to clarify that Pakistanis/Muslims are in no way what so ever supportive of terrorism. etc etc...

We should stop talking about all this. Terrorism is a common enemy which transcends national boundaries. No one can blame us for everything.
By the way, a friend of mine got waitlisted at MIT made a video which is pretty awesome.
If you have time see it for a moment.Link YouTube - My Maiden Mind

The video was pretty cool and nicely done and all, but the song mutilated my ears [sorry to say]. =P

Hotdamn, the video is private. Waitlist decisions are coming out soon. I am waiting for 5 places. InshAllah something good will happen.
Hows everyone else doing? How about we push for that 3000 mark, eh?

^Wow, 5 waitlists, that's pretty harsh. Where did you get waitlisted from, intemister? And where have you decided to go in the meantime?
I also have 4 waitlists (Harvard, Columbia, Dartmouth and Tufts) but I know I won't make it at any of them, so I'm perfectly happy with Laf.
And YES, we need to break 3000 at least.

Freakozoid, what IF you make them? Yes, I was thinking the same thing. At LEAST 3000. What dates exactly do wait-lists come out?

I decided to turn down UChicago for what is essentially a full-ride at Michigan. Good luck to all those who are on its wait-list; there's a spot open for you to take.

^ Haha, I WISH. It would be a miracle from God if that happened as my chances of getting in are not even 0.1%. So I'm not going to really pin my hopes on that. So are you going to UCLA then? Great place. I visited the campus once and LOVED it.
And congrats pakipower! You're a Michigan resident right?

^ Come on, freako, it's not that bad. Yes, getting off Harvard, and maybe even Columbia's wait-list, is RIDICULOUSLY difficult, but it has been done before. So, cheer up.

Yes it is. Waitlisted at j Hopkins, Carleton, Grinnell, Oberlin and Franklin & Marshall. Yes, not as impressive as Harvard and Columbia and what not, I know.
I am going to Westminster College SLC's honors program. Got a full-ish ride there. I also get a year in Berkeley which is pretty cool.
Has anyone else sent in additional essays etc. I've sent two as of now.
