Is there anything that could happen the VP debate to change your mind?

Most of us on here have clearly stated who we are supporting. There are a number who claim that Palin has swung their vote one way or the other. Is there anything that could happen tonight that would cause you to either rethink or change your vote entirely?

No. Biden could drop his pants and moon Palin and I'd still vote for Obama.

And I'm sure you would think it was hilariously funny and somehow appropriate...

Not funny. Not appropriate. It's just that during the Clinton impeachment, I told myself that I'd never vote for another Republican. I don't vote in some races, but I don't vote Republican.

Palin may do better than expected. But McCain has already done worse than expected. He isn't going to get my vote, no matter how he does in the upcoming debates. His behavior has been disgraceful, his campaign the height of ineptness. He's in trouble in Florida and is pulling out of Michigan.

pmrlcomm, sarcasm does not suit you.

No, the VP debate will not change my mind about how I vote. If Palin suddenly morphs into an articulate, thoughtful, well-informed person, I will have less anxiety, though.

Only some astounding negative revelation about Obama himself could change my vote at this point.

No. I already know how Palin speaks, and even if they have crafted her responses perfectly tonight, she has no knowledge of history, current events or geography, and is woefully poorly read. Better performance tonight is just lipstick on a pig, as they say.

I am looking forward to the debate though, and seriously hope she doesn't embarrass herself too much.

I think a lot of us here probably support one side or the other primarily because of issues that are important to us, and thus we will support our side unless there is something positively disqualifying about our candidate. That being the case, it doesn't matter how competent, clever, or engaging the opposing candidate may be--they're still on the wrong side of the issues for us.

Hunt, My biggest worry at this time is that the repubs have some swift-boat-like attack planned for the last week of the campaign that would, in fact, reveal something astoundingly negative about Obama, whether it is true or not.

I'll second that--that's exactly my feeling.

I'm as solid an Obama supporter as there is, so the chance of changing my vote is infinitessimally small.

When it first became apparent who the major POTUS candidates would be, I felt relieved that, no matter who won, the next POTUS would be better than the current one. Over the course of the campaign I have come to believe McCain might not be better at all for two reasons: 1) I believe, he has turned his campaign over to unscrupulous people, much like Bush has done with his presidency and 2) He went along with the Choice of a woefully unqualified VP.

So that I might reclaim a modicum of my initial feeling of relief at McCain's candidacy, I would like to see something in Palin tonight that causes me to respect her as a candidate. Even a little. So, the debate COULD make that change for me.
