Well, she's till one of the favorite prospective POTUS GOP candidate. Besides Mitt Romney is deliberately boring.
We can always discuss Ensign and Sanford. I did not realize that Nevada was in such bad shape. Gov. Jim Gibbons & Lt. Gov. Kroclicki have troubles of their own.

If Sanford's still bleating about "soul mates", I'll pass.
Really, it's a toss-up between talking about Jindal's exorcism history or Biden's latest gaffe.

Well, there's another member of The Family on C-Street who has had trouble keeping to traditional family values. Quote:
Now it's the turn of former Rep. Chip Pickering (R) or Mississippi, who appeared to be in line to grab Trent Lott's senate seat and was allegedly offered the gig by Gov. Haley Barbour, but decided instead to leave Congress altogether.
Pickering and his wife divorced soon afterward and now she is suing the novelistically named Elizabeth Creekmore-Byrd for "alienation of affection," i.e., for stealing her husband. What's more, according to legal papers filed by Leisha Pickering, some of the "wrongful conduct" between Pickering and Creekmore-Byrd (I guess that's what they call it down there?) took place at ... you guessed, the C Street group home up on Capitol Hill.

At least he's not an aspiring POTUS!

You have to be pretty bored yourself to be thinking about the 2012 Presidential election in 2009. After one year, the people of New York want Spitzer back. Things change.

Very true, but there is 2010 coming up. The Dems are too tied up working on health care and other Obama agenda items, even Franken is becoming Mr. Sobersides.

Why "pay attention" and keep the spotlight on SP?
In post 998, xiggi observed: Quote: |
Similarly, there is a strong possibility that an anti-Palin "coalition" could open the door for a stronger but unknown candidate to emerge by grabbing many of the independents ... who really hold the deciding votes for the next POTUS.
| As several posters then observed, if the continual scrutiny of SP might result in having a better GOP candidate in 2012, it is worth the effort.

I think she's a diamond in the rough; others here disagree. Yes, she has some work to do. She's capable of doing it, if that's what she wants. I'm interested in following her path, but I'm not obsessed with her.
| But why? She doesn't have the basic knowledge to be a competent player on a national stage, nor does she have the intellectual curiosity to obtain that knowledge. How can she be a diamond in the rough? Diamonds in the rough are people who are hungry (metaphorically speaking) for the knowledge to be able to move ahead.

Sarah Palin has some qualities that cannot be taught and lacks some qualities that can be taught. And the question is: Does she want to acquire those she lacks?

marite,
From my perspective, the evidence to date indicates no desire to recognize any short comings, let alone the desire to remedy them.

Maybe, like Sanford, she's waiting for God to make the changes. So much easier than doing the hard work yourself.

I heard a commentary in which it was said that what she has that can't be taught is the ability to rally a crowd and that is key in modern politics. The problem is the makeup of the crowd.
