^ I still ask, does an 8, 12, or 14 year old have a choice? What 8 year old is going to be like "No, mama, I'm not going to America. That is against the law."

It still remains a dilemma.
They are a child, a minor that hasn't chosen it. But they will reap from this law breaking move, regardless.
I have no answers. Just posing the question. It is big business for Mexico, which hasn't chosen to deal with this problem. They don't have to, because it actually benefits them in the long run. See the previous threads for more explanation.

Does it strike people as odd that an infant carried across the border by a pregnant illegal immigrant will have fewer rights than the newborn will have?
| Unless the US opens its borders to complete immigration, one has to draw the proverbial legal immigration line somewhere. Many/most? countries do not automatically grant citizenship to those born on its soil to foreign parents. Thus, such countries draw the line at parental citizenship.
The US Supreme Court has interpreted our Constitution such that all those born on US soil are citizens.
So, no, it's not odd. It's just where you draw the line.

Why does the US have that idiot anchor baby law anyway? Other first world countries don't have that law. Some even require *two* parents that are citizens.

I personally don't care, I think we should have open immigration. If you want to come then come, no limits no check stops. If you can afford to get here, then my all means do it. I also think the distinction between legal and illegal citizen should be gotten rid of. A citizen should be any person which is in the country at the current time.

| I think all immunizations should be optional, anything else gives the govt way to much power. Who knows what is in the vaccines, im a American citizen and id never take one.
As for background checks, I think our govt has gone too far with its police state. So no I don't think there should be background checks

So you choose to rely upon the herd immunity in keeping yourself healthy?
Are you concerned about coming into contact with a person suffering from an illness that is more prevalent is his or her own country?
(Speaking as one who was not able to be vaccinated, contracted measles and had serious complications.)

| I don't see the benefit and allowing massive immigration of unskilled labor into the country.

Okay, so folks...if there were open borders and you could become a citizen wherever you landed, where would it be?
I am voting for Italy. I haven't been to Ireland, yet. Maybe I will go there first and spend a few months, then spend some time in Australia.
Open borders are a lovely sentiment, but completely irrational and impossible to administer.

| No its rather simple, I base my assumptions on science. The earth has its own auto-balancing ecosystem, so if disease spreads and kills, it is supposed to happen. The earth is overpopulated and resources are dwindling. Sorry to say it but survival of the fittest applies. Quote: |

| What would you need to administer? My view of open borders aligns with my theory that govt's shouldn't help there people at all. Govts have there very small and set functions, but thats it. No food, water, healthcare, or anything else for that matter.
If the US got rid of all its social programs and became a sane and moral state, immigrants likely wouldn't migrate here ar the rates they currently do.
