We need some personal responsibility and common sense governance, but anyone with a shred of common sense would not want anything to do with that train wreck on the hill. And, so, we are stuck.

our system is broken because those that seek to be part of Congress do so for power, not to serve the people. A "Normal" person wants no part of it...which leaves us with elected officials who are inherently flawed.

I sort of wish we could ban every single congressperson from reelection and form an entirely new Congress. I'm generally not for term-limits but it is getting ridiculous...maybe we need them.

Heck, I'd just settle for actually seeing the ones who get caught cheating on, say....maybe, taxes? get punished at all. My favorite is that an 8th grader can get suspended from school for cheating but a senator or congressperson won't even be censured. But I digress....."worst bill ever" and that's REALLY saying something.

At least the GOP is finally stepping up to the plate and trying to offer up an alternative. Who knows what's in those 230 pages now but at least it's a step (or rather, 1,760 steps) in the right direction.

WASHINGTON — House Republicans have produced a health care bill to offer as an alternative to legislation by majority Democrats, focusing more on lowering costs than expanding coverage.

The bill is 230 pages long, compared with Democrats' 1,990-page measure. Unlike the Democrats' legislation it has no requirement for people to buy insurance and no prohibitions against insurance companies denying coverage to people with pre-existing medical conditions.

The Republican bill caps non-economic damages in medical malpractice cases, increases incentives for people to use health savings accounts and encourages creation of insurance pools for high-risk individuals.

The Associated Press obtained a draft of the bill. Aides to Minority Leader John Boehner cautioned the measure was not final and changes were being made.
