Pay To Play

EDITORIAL: A pay-to-play White House - Washington Times

Quote:
Democrats in the White House and on Capitol Hill hide behind the claim that past presidents and Congresses have done the same thing. That's no defense. Both Mr. Obama and Mrs. Pelosi promised a historic commitment to ethics and transparency. They should be judged by the standards they set for themselves, a test they have failed egregiously.

That statement struck me. It reminded me AGAIN that our politicians are worse then my kids, by using the WELL THEY DID IT FIRST as a defense. Shortly after they are caught doing the exact same thing, then their defense is WELL YOU LET THEM, even I swore I would never do it to you!

It just shows how naive and gullible the American people are. Never vote on what a candidate says during a campaign...look at his/her track record and the company they keep. Transparency?..what a joke.

I'd say the article paints him as a pretty savvy capitalist who is putting his money where his mouth is. Most people, who have the luxury to do so, tend to invest money in things about which they are passionate.

^^^^ I'm just not as comfortable with Mr. Gore's profiting from a issue that he's championing into the world's consciousness as you are catera.

Personally, I think it just seems a little too close to a situation where Pfizer Chemicals produces a movie called "The Great Pandemic of 2009" highlighting the dangers of the Swine Flu, while they push for the fast tracking and Government purchase of their own vaccine. I mean, their passionate about making cures for diseases, right? Who does it hurt if they are pretty savvy capitalists about it?

Global Climate Change is an issue that needs to be addressed. Impressions that Gore is using his message to generate tremendous profit for himself doesn't help the situation, and just seems to many to be a Henry Hill act on his part ('We got trouble! Right here in River City!).

It's going to be a tough sell, getting the world, and particularly America, to change. Does he really need to give ammunition to those who would oppose him?
