Wall St gets H1N1 vaccine ahead of hospitals and schools

Personally, I would put the lives of our children and at risk citizens before Wall Street.

Stop being inflammatory. You ought to apologize to this board for spreading false implications.

"Health-care workers at those employers are bound by the CDC to distribute the vaccine only to populations deemed to be at high risk of developing serious complications from swine flu:

pregnant women, children and young people aged 6 months to 24 years, people who live with or provide care for infants under 6 months (who cannot be vaccinated), people aged 24 to 64 with medical conditions that put them at higher risk for flu-related complications, and health-care workers and emergency medical personnel.

A spokeswoman for Goldman....saying that Goldman will supply vaccine only to those who qualify as high-risk, per the CDC requirements."

New York Businesses Get H1N1 Vaccine | Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington

The same release says Goldman got 200 of 5300 requested doses. Gee, they must have just called up Geithner to get around the rules.

The article says "clear to receive" not "has received." Since schools, hospitals, and the general public in NY have already starting receiving the vaccination, this is a whole bunch of lies.

I have to agree, this is misleading and inflammatory.

Distribution is up to the individual states. The federal governement gets the vaccine to the states and the states distribute. I don't think it's inappropriate for large corporations who employ pregnant women and people with certain medical conditions to offer the vaccine. I am sure that there are more than a few pregnant women who work at these companies. They actually are on the highest priority list.

Geez - I sure didn't mean to offend anyone. I should have checked more thoroughly. The link I posted did NOT have Cresent's quote of
Quote:
"Health-care workers at those employers are bound by the CDC to distribute the vaccine only to populations deemed to be at high risk of developing serious complications from swine flu:
. If it had I would not have fallen for this biased reporting.

Actually distribution is up to each county or town. My daughter's school has two campuses located in two different towns. We are told that the elementary school is going to administer vaccine onsite, but not the upper school. It was strongly suggested to the parents to bring their kids from upper campus to lower campus to get the vaccine.

Corporations usually distribute flu vaccine, and in normal times this is a good thing. But because of the shortages of H1N1, I don't think that any vaccine should be distributed outside of medical channels. I am not blaming the companies. I think that government officials should have been more careful about this. Goldman Sachs received 200 doses, the same number as Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan.

I want it but am not going to try to get it until the high risk groups have had theirs.

I am too old and too young, an interesting circumstance.

Remember HGH (human growth hormone)? It used to be recovered from cadaver pituitary glands. There wasn't enough for all children with growth problems. Yet athletes took advantage of money and influence to divert scare supples to boost performance. Today HGH is produced by recombinant DNA technology and there is plenty for any legitimate or even marginally legitimate use.

I sure hope they are not going to give it to my kids without my knowledge!

They will not give it to your kids without a signed permission slip. There was a major scandal in NYC when two kids were administered the vaccination without one.

Good to know!
There is still a shortage in my state so the "mass" vaccinations have not started.
To tell the truth, I don't even know if there is a plan to vaccinate kids at school???

This is left up to state and local authorities, Kelowna. Schools are a great place to offer vaccinations, and I know this is happening in some places, but not where I am. There are shortages everywhere.

I could swear I heard on CNBC today that Morgan Stanley had sent all of their H1N1 vaccine to a local hospital after all the uproar and bad publicity, yet I cannot find one article reporting this. Those evil Wall Street bankers are guilty of many crimes, but I am not sure stealing our flu vaccine is one of them. Unless this is merely a dress rehearsal for the global death plague, when the rich privileged Wall Street Bankers will get their vaccine while the rest of us die in the streets.

I would think that after years of encourageing gender equity in the workplace, the firms probably needed some doses for pregnant employees.

Companies also used to vaccinate children of employees.

But if middle aged male bond traders are getting vaccine before poor children, then I am mad.

NJres,
Don't worry, the Wall Streeters aren't going to leave themselves without an underclass to do the dirty work. One theory is that this current circumstance is just a tune up of vaccine production and distribution in anticipation of a natural or man made bio-disaster. Sort of a fallout shelter drill with alcohol wipes.
