Looks like all of those Pelosi entitlements in the stimulus haven't produced any jobs yet.
But that hasn't stopped her... the House health care bill is going to spend over $1 Trillion... and we are supposed to believe it's going to lower the deficit and save money?
In what alternate universe is that going to happen?

" President Barack Obama’s administration is accelerating plans to boost job growth, including more spending on infrastructure and business tax cuts, after the unemployment rate jumped to 10.2 percent last month. "
Dah! Took a while to understand that the economy needs the small business growth engine. This was proposed by many, months ago instead we've wasted time arguing about healthcare and cap and trade.

Why does the government need to provide more stimulus? Why can't the private sector do it? If small businesses want to create more jobs, why don't they create more jobs? Why do small businesses or any other businesses need the government's help?
Small businesses..go create more jobs. Go ahead.

I'm involved in one or two right now. Thanks.
So why should the government help small businesses? Why can't the private sector do it?

Why would any small business want to expand now? Companies expand on certainty, and the only thing they are certain of now is higher taxes and higher health care costs. And a depressed economy with people saving, not spending. Unless you had a way to capitalize on the terrible economy (perhaps bankrupty and foreclosure firms), why would you take the chance to hire and expand?

busdriver, I'm with you. And no, I'm not hiring or expanding. Just trying to hang on until this nightmare is over.

I'm still waiting to find out why the government has to provide stimulus. I don't get it. I thought the private sector should do it. The government can't do anything right.

Tax cuts essentially lower business costs so that companies that weren't economic before are now viable. Or adding employees or expanding production before that doesn't make sense now does make sense.
Is a small business tax cut help? I guess you could look at it that way. You could also consider that it does less harm.

Why should the government cut taxes or provide other stimulus to companies that aren't economically viable? Why don't we just let the businesses go under? Why is it the government's job to pick and choose who should make it?

> aren't economically viable?
But they would be with less taxes. So the basis of your question is incorrect.
> Why don't we just let the businesses go under?
We are doing just that. But it is considered a bad thing by people that own businesses, employees and government officials.
> Why is it the government's job to pick and choose who should make it?
Your question does not follow.

| Quote: The Concise Encyclopedia of Economics: Adam Smith (1723-1790 )
...Charity, while a virtuous act, cannot alone provide the essentials for living. Self-interest is the mechanism that can remedy this shortcoming. Said Smith: “It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer, or the baker, that we can expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own interest”...
| With all the educated people in the adminstration (starting at the top) wisdom and appreciation for the law of unintended consequences is, along with employment, in short supply.

My questions are really meant for Kentuckymom, Doc T, and those that believe in small government.
