British teen banned from US for life

I don't think I've seen this posted anywhere else, if it has let me know.

A British 17 year old has been banned for life from America after sending an abusive e-mail to President Obama. Right or wrong?

I didn't know they paid attention to emails. Opinion emails are mostly ignored. To pick on this one and punish severly reminds me of the silly squabble they had with FOX news.

If it contained threats, they take those very seriously.

Hunt, That probably means the police system functions better than the rest of the government. As in old Soviet Union? There nothing worked except locking up people. How did that country turn out?

I don't understand your point. The US Secret Service takes threats to the President very seriously. If you send a threatening e-mail to the President from a location in the US, you can expect a very uncomfortable visit from them. After all, several US Presidents have been assassinated.

True. they should visit the teen and investigate. But lifetime ban? Don't you think it's heavy handed? I would have not noticed it except the kid glove they were wearing for dealing with other quasi criminal cases, BP, GS to name a few?

That story doesn't have enough details to know if he was really "banned for life," and if so, by whom. It certainly could be that threatening the President could get your name on the TSA "Do Not Fly" list.

I am sure he could. The question is if he should. No criminal action was taken against the boy after investigation BTW.

Maybe it's not a crime in the UK to threaten the US President.

I'm not sure about the veracity of this banning, but what I do know is that with that screename the OP needs to be wary of being stalked by Hindoo.
