My D and I watched X Factor last night and enjoyed the show. I do have to agree with alwaysamom that sometimes I think the audiance was drowning out the audition. I liked that they do not sing a capella on the show as I am sick of hearing all the American Idol screaming a capella auditions.

We will definitely tune in again.

Quote:
Obviously Paula, technically one of his or the producer's employees, was not comfortable with this guy, had a negative reaction, but no immediate action was taken. Simon even seemed annoyed at Paula for walking off in the first place.
One has to wonder how much of a scripted act this is. We know that Paula was brought back because she will deliver an endless number of dimwit acts and utter non-sense with abandon. Simon is obviously orchestrating the "relations" among the judges, from sparring with the other music executive to "putting up" with the antics of Paula Abdul. And, her reaction was entirely moronic. After all, this is Paula Abdul and not a novice from St Mary's. Showing outrage is expected, but running to the bathroom and returning as a battered victims was way over-the-top. And TOTALLY non-believable. Again this is Paula Abdul.

The fact that they did not stop the lunatic --or knew what he would do before-hand-- all indicates that this was a scripted event, including the all-too-willing participation of the show resident idiot. This clown showing up was no accident. And neither was having cameras escorting poor Paula for her bathroom performance.

What can be expect in the next weeks? More feuding between LA and Simon. More soliloquies from the Pussycat Doll to make us forget the better choice with the neat accent. And more of the typical Abdul mental contorsions with a probable wardrobe malfunction and a few meltdowns.

It works because it is the new world of entertaining.

PS Some of the people who showed up were quite remarkable.

I enjoyed the show. I loved the spunk and personality of 13 year old Rachel Crow--not an ounce of nervousness, but full of excitement and joy performing in front of the crowd.

Auditions part 2 tonight at 8:00.

I hit upon this show by accident. I really enjoyed it a lot! Though I totally agree with others about the pants dropping incident, as well as xiggi's read of the predictability of it all. But I really enjoyed some of the better performances on the show.

BTW, did anyone notice the same screaming blue-haired girl (this time with a partner), who also appeared quite recently alone in the last segment of America's Got Talent (when they brought out the 'weirdos' from the earliest auditions)? She seems to be making her rounds.

For those of you who haven't yet seen Thursday's show, don't even bother watching the first 50 minutes because it was a complete waste of time, and it was slim pickings after that in both Miami and Dallas.

Like nysmile said, Melanie Amaro WAS fantastic. I cannot ever recall an 18-year old that has sung with that kind of control. She cannot help but be a serious contender. My favorite of both nights combined. I also liked Brendan O'Hara, who was only on camera a brief moment. For me, those were the only two that stood out in Miami. Dallas also did not start out very well and it is surprising that this city did not produce more talent as well. For me, the only one that had any real promise was Caitlin, the rugby player and coach.

Disappointing show overall, talent-wise with just a "couple" bright spots. If the show includes groups as well, where are they?

I didn't watch last night's show but I just realized this morning that I had seen Stacy Francis a few times on Broadway back in the late 90's. I happened to be talking to a friend this morning who was in a show with her back then and he asked if I'd seen Stacy on X-Factor. I hadn't made the connection before that!

I watched parts of it ... hard to beat the baseball action of last night. The X factor was definitely the collapse of the Red SoX.

PS At first glance, the producers packed the action in the first week. This one is already losing a lot of steam fast. Telling mere average singers that they will be a star is getting old. They visibly need to load the show with candidates who have zero chance in future rounds. But then the mediocre singers are every bit as entertaining as the better ones.

Fwiw, the Paula LaLaLand segments made for better TV than the moronic orchestrated bathroom scenes of a few days ago.

Drew Ryniewicz - Audition 1
I though this girl did a nice job with her arrangement of Bieber's song.

Sometimes I watch a performance and I think it was great, but it doesn't wear well.

I just rewatched Josh and I still think he was great...

Maybe even better than I remember...

He was my favorite of last night.

Just loved his voice...And his style...

Is Josh the one from the Chicago auditions with the "type A plus" mother that drove from Columbus OH?
