I think that Nokia will be around in the next few years. There's still a massive market for non-smartphones. I have a very, very smart BIL that works there and he doesn't seem particularly worried about his job and it looks like they are still hiring in the Boston area.
JC Penney - retail is very crowded right now and there are several big names in the slightly upscale category. With retail, it's all about execution.
Best Buy - I buy electronics at Newegg, Amazon, Target, the Apple Store. Best Buy is a last resort if I want something right away. I usually try to plan better than that.
RIMM? Death spiral.
Don't know what HH Gregg is.

If they are an electronics retailer and I've never heard of them - that's bad news for them.

I have never heard of them either. Make that double bad news!
My biotechs are down a couple of bucks, but sort of hanging in there. The earnings week will be interesting.

I agree that most of those listed on 2058 are likely in trouble but think Nokia will stick around for the foreseeable future.
Wondering what folks think of Carnival Corporation (the company with cruise ships)? Thanks for any thoughts.

People in my office still do cruising on a regular basis so I see them surviving. I personally don't get the concept but a lot of people like to eat and party.

I like to eat and party but not in a floating petri dish in the middle of the ocean for days. I don't expect CCL to reach $48 again anytime soon and in fact, can't even break $38 for the past 12 mos but it was a good ride from Jan to Jun.

Doug Kass, who had until recently been fairly bullish, made some excellent points today,which i agree with of why investors are shunning the stock market
Here is a quick overview of what he said..
a decade of underperformance by U.S. stock market;
two large drawdowns in stocks in last decade (2001 and 2008-2009);
the plight of the middle class (when the average Joe sees stagnating incomes while the cost of the necessities of life rise, buying stocks ends up low on a consumer's list of priorities);
the flash crash in 2010 scared the crap out of everyone (we still don't know the reason for the flash crash, and algos and high-frequency trading strategies still rule the roost);
our dysfunctional leaders put partisanship in front of patriotism and effective fiscal policy;
scandals and loss of investor monies with Madoff, Stanford, MF Global and now Peregrine, plus the latest Liebor issues underscore (to many investors) that the system is rigged.

That is a pretty good list.
Volume is terrible.
I have been saying that a lot this year.
