This time year, Scrooge! and A Christmas Story. Seconding Oliver!, The Fugitive, anything Bourne. I'm only on page 4, but has Gattica been mentioned yet? Spirited Away?
With all the mentions, Going have to 're watch To Kill A Mockingbirfd. My mom loved Imitation of Life, so I am "into" both versions, and Pinky, and other " passing" movies. She loved Mildred Pierce, and I guess that's why I do too.
"Passing" movies. http://xroads.virginia.edu/~ma02/rod...esis/home.html

OP back again. Reading some of your lists made me realize that I should have included Goodfellas (on right now!) and Pieces of April. I'm also thinking that the latter should be part of every post-meal Thanksgiving agenda, along with that priceless Thanksgiving episode of Mad About You (yeah, it's a TV show, not a movie, but heck, it's my thread).

Sound of Music (thinking about a trip to the Trapp Family Lodge in Vermont)
It's a Wonderful Life
Casablanca
Princess Bride
I can get sucked into lots of classic movies - HP, Star Wars (New Hope for sure, not so much the newer ones), Karate Kid. Same thing for classic television - give me a great episode of MASH (but not the movie!) any time.

I Love, Love, Love some of ya'lls inspired choices and agree with much of what has been posted here.
So, I am, in fact, watching one of my all-time favorite cult classics as I type this..."The Poseidon Adventure." Also, for sentimental reasons concerning my grandmom, I have to plug "Coal Miner's Daughter."
I never get tired of certain director's movies...you all have mentioned some iconic directors such as Woody Allen and I do love his stuff. I would add Robert Redford's superb work on such films as "Ordinary People," "A River Runs Through It," and "Quiz Show.'
I can quote "Fargo" line by line and also "Jaws," plus the ones listed above as well as 'Pulp Fiction," and "Anchorman." But right now I am fixated on "Shattered Glass," based on the true story of the New Republic journalist who fabricated several articles and was exposed by Forbes.com.
Geez, I need a life.

Love Actually -- just watched it today
Twister -- I'm transplanted from the Midwest and this takes me back
Sleepless in Seattle -- I had the last 15 minutes on the TiVo for years
Ferris Bueller's Day Off -- (see Twister)
Clueless
and many more that I can't think of now, but when they come on I can't stop watching

OurxThanksgiving movie is Hannah and Her Sisters -- 3 Thanksgivings, or maybe 4,- filmed in Mia Farrow's actual apartment with her kids as kids. ( type casting ha!) Woody Allen is a scoundrel, but the movie is superb. Pieces of April also very good but a little harder to take.
Christmas movie? You guessed it. Love Actually and The Family Stone.

The Princess Bride, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Reservoir Dogs, Bull Durham, Somewhere in Time, Clueless, Sixteen Candles, Godfather 1&2, all Star Wars, newest Star Trek and The Usual Suspects.
I also watch Same time Next Year once a year. I used to do it with my mother, but due to her Alzheimer's I sit in my house and laugh and cry alone. Same with Somewhere in Time. For those unfamiliar try it for the following reasons, 1) two beautiful actors at their most attractive; 2) unusual love story; 3) guaranteed to make you cry.

What memories some of these bring!
Huge shout out to whoever informed us about the showing on Wednesday of To Kill a Mockingbird. Just got back from purchasing tickets for the 7:00PM showing.
To many of the movies mentioned above, I'll add Help!! and A Hard Day's Night.
