OK, I'm just guessing. But I'm pretty sure Congressman Wexler has just fired his entire staff after they booked him on the Colbert Report without explaining to him what it was. You really need to see this. It's one of the funniest things I've seen/heard since G. Gordon Liddy went on the Howard Stern show during a book tour years ago, without realizing what that was.

How predictable that driver would pick on Congressman Wexler. Let me guess - you don't you actually watch Colbert, do you driver?

Hmmm…Just for fun…Let’s watch “do nothiner” Congressman Lynn Westmoreland (R-GA) try to figure out what the 10 Commandments are (or even four of them perhaps).

Westmoreland got owned. Fox is as far to the right as NBC, ABC, CBS is to the left, according to a recent UCLA study. Expect bias from all the networks.

Garland, I didn't see that particular Fox newscast, but they always end the evening news with a humorous (edited for brevity) clip from any of a number of different sources--Leno, Letterman, Comedy Channel, etc., many of them even poking fun at the president. I didn't really get the point of holymomma's link, but am glad that it brought a twinkle to your gimlet eye. I think the "laugh track" made it clear to most viewers that they shouldn't "decide" to take it seriously.

I may have to start watching Colbert if he continues to find unsuspecting Congressdupes of either party to come on his special Congressional district show.

I think it's obvious that the congressman was certainly aware of where he was. But he probably should have realized someone, somewhere, would have msused it (cough, cough, Fox)--even if with a twinkle.

Garland, I admire your ability to see a Karl Rove/FoxNews conspiracy behind anything and everything, but I thought Congressman Wexler looked far more foolish in the whole, original Colbert clip, that I linked. Judging from this interview with his hometown paper, Wexler (and his kids) agree. It's kind of funny to think of Fox "misusing" a fake comedic interview in their standard end-of-show joke segment by "taking it out of context," as holymomma's YouTuber put it. Too funny.

driver, the point of holymomma's link was to show that Fox News portrayed Westmoreland in the worst light possible, as if those comments came naturally and immediately after Colbert's prompt.

In reality, it took almost thirty seconds of coaching and prodding from Colbert before Westmoreland delivered the final result, without smiles and awkward giggles, in the nonchalant manner portrayed in the news report.

The prostitutes comment did not take as long, because by then Westmoreland had gotten the point of the exercise, but he still hesitated initially. Fox News skipped over that hesitation without notifying viewers that the clip they were showing had been edited.

Wexler. Wexler. Not Westmoreland. Holymomma's youtuber even provided a scrolling visual prompt to accompany his voice-over. Wexler was the man's name.

The original Colbert tape was edited as well, for maximum comedic effect, as noted in the Palm Beach Post article. We are now arguing about whether Fox News "distorted" a patently obvious gag in their traditional gag segment. Amazing. Good attempt at spin, guys. And, for the record, I didn't put the OP up there because the guy was a Democrat. I really was just incredulous that someone's staffers could let their boss go on with Colbert and not know what would happen.

I saw this on the Colbert show when it originally aired....not on the Fox reup of it....and my reaction was similiar to driver's.... how could this guys staff let him do this.....at the same time I thought it was funny that Colbert pulled it off.....Colbert's guest that nite was Tom Brokaw and my fuzzy memory seems to think even Tom was surprised.....

Last nite, Jay Leno had a great joke....about the French...."can they even ride bikes any more? for the last 7 years we send over a cancer survivor to win the Tour le France.....this year an American who needs a NEW hip...and he wins.....why are we even bothering??" cracked me up....

John Stewart had McCain on....who tried to dodge but took a few direct hits on what is going on....

Almost time for the shows to start tracking Presidential vacation days, yes? When I read that "we" want to give Israel 2 more weeks....I am thinking, is that to allow for time on the ranch? Doesn't Bush always take August off and come back after Labor Day?

Great time to be a cynic.....
