| snowball, yes, you light candles. the blessing is the "holiday" one, not the "shabbat" one. But the shabbat candles are fine. All the best for your seder!

To the OP- Martha Stewart and her guest, (? Schwartz, author of Jewish Home Cooking) demonstrated some delicious looking seder recipes this morning. Check out her site for recipes (a brisket, an apple cake, & choc/white choc covered matza).

Too bad CC doesn't have Smello-reading--my brisket is in the oven, has cooked half-way, and smells DIVINE! My poor dog is salivating and doesn't know why!

My dog stands by the stove while the brisket is in, and when it comes out, oh my!! She especially loves when we slice it as my husband like to "drop" several pieces!
Right now I am making a squash casserole about 5 hours later than I wanted. My father in law was admitted to the hospital this morning and will not make it here for Passover. I am bummed that our seder leader isn't able to join us; I wanted to cancel and have seder once he was home from the hospital, but I was out voted. Most of our food he can not have yet, but I am going to take him a piece of sponge cake tomorrow.

WJB's recipe for passover brownies from post #10 are in the oven. They aren't rising at all, I hope that they are still good.

Today I made the chicken soup, matzah balls (can't add them to the soup till tomorrow because my pot will overflow), Apple-Farfel kugel, cake layers (for the strawberry shortcake...will do fresh whipped cream and berries tomorrow), brownies and charosett. I am ready for a nap.

Made one batch of matzoh brittle and hid it from my kids (and my H )
Just took a potato/parsnip kugel out of the oven - it smells incredible!

Do you think my family will notice the dog hair and pollen floating around my house? Between hospital visits and cooking, there isn't much time to clean. Of course there is time to check in here as my laptop has been moved to the kitchen and I read in between one thing and another!

I made three batches of Matzah Brittle and just UPSed (overnight) each of my two college daughter's a batch. They are going to be soooo happy. I have hidden our batch behind the kugel in the fridge so it makes it to the seder. If I need to, I can always make another batch for the week.

I'm making two more batches of Matzah Brittle tonight. I'm going to try one with Peanut Butter chips and one with Pecans. I probably also have to replace the Walnut ones that are disappearing fast. I'm also going to try the Tropical Meringues.

fauve, OP here. Thanks for thinking of me. I happen to have seen these recipes in Martha's magazine (which I now receive as an unsolicited replacement for another magazine that went belly up). They look delicious. I was fairly calm this evening, having finished some last minute grocery shopping on the way home from work and then setting my dining table after dinner tonight. But now that I see how much you've all accomplished, I'm feeling panicky. Haven't even begun to cook or bake. Big sigh.

Completely OT but I just noticed I've still got the same number of posts as I did when I started this thread more than a year ago. Wish I could maintain my age and weight as well.
