Thanks again, cnp55, for the Toll Brother website. I just tried it out and it's really cool! The funny thing is that the default colors of the wall & the window treatment are exactly the same as what I have in my kitchen, so now I can visualize EXACTLY what my kitchen is going to look like!!!

I just found this thread today, and wanted to alert you of a site that's the kitchen equivalent of CC. Yes, the people there are totally obsessed, but not about finding the perfect college for DS or DD. They're obsessed about kitchens! In fact, there's a name for this obsession, it's called TKO (total kitchen obsession). You can post your current kitchen and ask for advice on how to update it, you can post your current kitchen plan and ask for advice on whether it's going to be functional, or you can drool over the photos of the members' kitchens. All styles and budgets are welcome, from complete DIY to 6-figure, sky-is-the-limit remodels.

Oh, and there's an equivalent forum for bathrooms:

Enjoy!

RODS - I'm getting in on this a little late in the game, but I just wanted to add that all your choices sound great, but if you aren't totally happy w/ the floor you have, now is the time to change it.

You're going to all this effort & expense to get your dream kitchen, why settle for a floor that isn't what you really want?

Just a thought - we've done lots of renovations & believe me, it's always better to do it right the first time - that is if there is any question about the floor. If it isn't going to bug you, then don't worry about it, but if you think you'll ever want something different, now is the time.

Sorry if I've thrown you a curve - you can always ignore this comment!
Hoping for your happiness & contentment w/ the final product whatever you do!
Cheers!

Thank you bz2010 for your good wishes on my kitchen project. I appreciate it! I am eagerly waiting for my new cabinets to arrive and keeping my fingers crossed that everything will turn out just fine. I had planned on remodeling the kitchen with both kids out of the nest, but it just so happens that both kids want to come home at the end of the semester for a brief visit before they head back to campus to do their summer research, and THAT week just SO HAPPENS to be the week when the cabinets will be here and kitchen tear down will begin!!! I don't want to discourage my kids from coming home and I don't want to postpone the project either. This just goes to show that the best laid plans can still go awry. I always try to stay positive. In a way, it is probably not a bad idea for the kids to be here to witness the kitchen transformation so that it's more of a "family project".
