Two Milion Minutes...film on education?

Has anyone seen this film by Robert Compton, an American venture capitalist? Just saw a brief story on TV about the film and it detailed how American teens/students allocate the time available for education versus students in China and India. Piqued my interest! Talked about how current educational differences will effect our economy and positioning in global markets and how American students are behind in technological advances. I'd like to watch this and evaluate the facts. Anyone know more about this film?

"Two Million Minutes"

Someone started a thread on this topic in the Parents' Cafe a few days ago. I am very interested in this topic, but that thread has not received a lot of responses. Maybe these two threads should be combined for further discussion.

Robert Compton, producer for the film, is interviewed on C-SPAN's Q&A...they should have the video for the interview available on line in a day or two.

There was an interesting interview with him on NPR. Probably available online. I'd like to see the film.

Media Coverage of the Movie

shawbridge:

Here's the NPR interview: WBUR & NPR's On Point : Preparing Students For the 21st Century
...and the C-SPAN Interview ( Q & A ) which is now online.

More media cover can be found on the 2 Million Minutes web site: 2 MILLION MINUTES :: A DOCUMENTARY FILM ON GLOBAL EDUCATION

I'm listening to the interview now, but how do you see the movie?

Youdon'tsay, apparently the only way to see the movie is either by buying a DVD or going to one of the screenings listed on their website.

I just watched the movie. (I ordered the DVD through their website because Netflix doesn't have it yet). You can see the trailer online to get a sense of it.
I thought it was very thought-provoking. It was fascinating to see how different the parent's messages to their kids were in the US, India and China. On a side note, it seems like the admissions odds for the most elite schools in India make the US look easy by comparision.
