| Good morning. I just baked cinnamon buns - they're only Pillsbury (owlice is in charge of the real homemade ones), but they smell really good. Sorry mountains, I know you're working hard and don't mean to throw temptation your way - but if anyone else would like to try them, they're on the buffet.
Is everyone else loving our new space? Well, two new spaces, really.

| mountains, I keep hearing the summer melt term. What is that? Is my S going to have a meltdown and decide he made the wrong choice? (He's a world-class second guesser so that's not unlikely...) |

| It's an admissions term - kids that send in a deposit, decide to go elsewhere, and don't tell the school. Sometimes its getting in off a waitlist, deciding to take a gap year, or double- or triple-depositing. Schools may overbook a bit knowing this wil happen. If everyone comes, they get out the shoehorn. |

| acme - To add to ohio_mom's definition, a kid may deposit in College X, gets off waitlist from College Y, decides to go to College Y, so thus it frees up a space in College X. Summer melt is simply the snowball effect but appropriately termed for the season. I keep on reminding my S that by Halloween, his current college choice will become his first choice! |

| mountains: I think if I remember correctly, your son's choice as of now is Colby??? There was a story on 20/20 last night about the school; specifically a program started by some billionaire to bring internationals to the campus...Sorry I can't be more specific, but I was on the phone not really watching until I saw the Colby T- shirt and thought of you.......You may want to see if the broadcast is posted on www.abc.com...BTW, the campus looked AMAZING.....beautiful..... |

| My S may be involved in this-- sent deposit to one school, got in off waitlist at one of his top 3 choices (but not his top choice), has now sent deposit to school #2 and still harbors hopes of getting a nod from his top choice. But-- I don't think he'll wait for them through the summer. More likely, once graduation hits, it will be over for him. |

| rodney - H and I actually saw it on the Colby website this morning (H wanted to order gym shorts). Yes, their campus is really beautiful and extremely well-kept. By the way, I am hoping his choice remains to be Colby. I'm just sick of the waitlist limbo. |

| Hi all! Go Colby!
I am off in two hours for my trek to Williamstown. Don't you think we should get to choose the college? After all, we will be visiting for four years. |

| Boo hoo. Well someday, dear mountains. Wait a minute. If S is ready to come home, maybe I'll be there too! But I'm sorry about the funeral, and maybe you won't have time.
We'll have to keep in touch. |

| LIMOMOF2, although I am late to the party, I am starving. Is there a cinnamon bun left for me? Preferably one with no calories whatsoever? We are going out to dinner shortly for early mother's day with my MIL, but I'm really hungry and can't wait that long. ...,,,drooling over the prospect of eating a cinnamon bun...,,,, |

| Owlice, I was wondering where that last cinnamon bun disappeared to - I'm guessing you and Cottonwood split it because when S came home from his friend's house this morning, he polished off all but one! He can do that and not gain weight because he's only 11. So unfair!
mythmom - enjoy your trip to Williams and your visit with your S. Did you say he was coming home? I know you said he will be going to Florence, but I'm not sure when. Have a great time!
Cottonwood - we all love tomatoes - so thank you.
mountains - so sorry to hear about your H's uncle, and it's sad that you have to go to a funeral. But wouldn't it be great if you and mythmom managed to meet up if you happen to be in the same area at the same time?
D just called and told me that her game is over, and they are making them go out to dinner in a town about 40 minutes from where we live. While it's nice that the coaches want to take the kids out, they really should have told them ahead of time. D has tickets to a show tonight, plus she has dinner plans with friends. She sounded so sad. I know she was really looking forward to spending time with friends after her stressful week - and her friends aren't going to be too happy with her either. Even if she makes it home in time to see the show (not likely), she won't have time to shower and get dressed - and I'm sure the last thing she wants to do is go to a show dresses in her uniform. I'm not even sure if she played today - if she sat on the bench, at least she won't be dirty.
Just spoke (got text from)to D - she told me she was just a designated runner today (I told her I didn't want her batting - believe it or not, that's how she sprained her hand - the impact of the ball on the bat was that hard!). Anyway, she said her team ended up losing - but they may still be in the playoffs (rats!). She also said they are leaving the restaurant now! I don't know how they did that before I even finished writing my post........lol. I guess that means I write too much. Oh, and it also means that she'll be able to change and see the show with her friends.
I'm sorry momof3sons - as your read above, S was a little hungry this morning and didn't leave much for anyone else! I can make some more though - Pillsbury cinnamon buns don't take much effort. Let me just pop them into the oven now. |

| While you're waiting for cinnamon buns, I have some freshly-baked oatmeal/whole wheat bread here, and some nice things to spread on it: cream cheese, honey mustard (and look, here's some ham and turkey! And Swiss cheese!), strawberry preserves, black cherry preserves, lemon curd, and I could make you cheese toast if you'd like, too!
FYI for those wondering: Vigilantes is down as it (and others) are moved, but should be up tomorrow.
