| How true! It seems like knowing we're in the home stretch should make it easier . . . why doesn't it work that way? |

| Count me in #1 son is happily at UM (his first choice, now a first term junior). Financially it was a bit of a reach because we were OOS and I am a single mom with no help from custodial dad. He loves it there. He was an early admit into the business program, joined a frat - loves everything about it.
#2 - accepted at UPitt and Clemson, both honors programs, Carnegie Mellon and Rochester. Waiting to hear from UM (he applied very late - 12/5/2007), Emory and Duke. Kicker is he **may** want to swim in college. Money will matter. In a big way. He has already ruled out Case and Westminster (his safeties).
Between waiting to hear from the three above and waiting to hear on the money from CM and Rochester.....SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE I am going crazy!

| We heard informally - from a coach. But nothing formal yet. FYI, if you look at the Rochester threads, it looks like they started mailing latter part of first week in March. I figure my son's last name begins with a W so probably will be in the last mailings.
Until I see it in writing....... |

| Glad to hear I'm not the only one going crazy waiting -- for accept/reject letters. My D is doing much better than me, focussing on social life and senior year stuff. It was much easier with first 2 sons who did not qualify for merit aid. At least we knew the schools would be on a close-to-even footing financially. And it's definitely a last kid thing. A stage in your life is ending. It would be so great to be able to see into the future to know if that extra money and distance for the dream school would be worth it in happiness and academic challenge. What alot of stress. Maybe after this is all over I can get a life again. |

I think we're all feeling a little like that right now, even if it isn't our last kid! This has turned in to quite the short-term obsession. I keep reminding myself that all will be revealed in the next couple of weeks, and then won't it feel strange? Good-strange, I hope . . . |

| Yeah, folks. All the long time CC'ers will tell you the obsession doesn't necessarily go away. LOL.
Waiting with all of you. |

| What? I have been so addicted to this site and planned on breaking the addiction April 1st. Mythmom, are you saying I might have a tough time doing that? This is distressing, I have so many other things I should be doing. This morning I even considered waking up an hour or so before the rest of the house just so I could CC in peace I get really tired of "mom are you on cc again?" |

| Yup. That's what I'm saying. And there are legions who would corroborate this. |

| Ha! I joined CC, back in the old forum days, when DD was a junior in High School. She graduates from Rice U in 7 weeks.... my addiction continues. (I do live a real life, though, complete with friends, husband, dog, full-time job, music group, gym membership... and my trusty laptop bookmarked to College Confidential!) After your kid gets into college, there is empty nest syndrome to discuss, then summer internships, financial aid, next kid to get into college, grad school, employment etc... I hope we'll see you all here for a long time!
And to the OP; good luck on the Rice acceptance! Both my kids love it, and we have been more than pleased with both the financial aid, and all the great opportunities they have had and continue to have there. |

| I "hate" all of you. My D was deferred from her ED school. She only heard positive from one UC -- which she only applied to because they told her she would get in. Then WUSTL was a WL -- a big disappointment -- while her 2 best friends, who had NO demonstrated interest were accepted. Now , we are all half convinced that she actually might not get in any of her other choices (pretty selective schools) (these same friends applied to all of them as well - except for one) SO -- the level of anxiety is quite high. Her college counselor told D her list was fine -- but that was before all the deferrals and strange results started coming in. Ugggh. |

| I promised my family that as soon as the decision was made, I am off of CC for exactly one year....Until D2 has to start her search....I do not have an addictive personality, but this is ridiculous....D1 has been accepted with merit money at 5 schools & waitlisted at her match...the remainder are full fare schools and will make decisions extremely difficult if they are acceptances.....It's almost over!!! |

| Okay, I am now waiting with an acceptance in hand--or rather in S's hand! --and there is NO doubt in my mind that it is a whole h*ll of a lot better than waiting without one!
Now that he's in at Chicago, one of his favorite schools, it's fun. (Well, until I start obsessing about the FA package, anyway. )
What is truly amazing is that despite my obsessive CCing, I had somehow missed the fact that U of C decisions were up until this morning! At least one day of agony that could have been avoided. |
