| Well, D & I have gotten a reprieve from anxiety for now. She heard from one of her favorite schools today and she is in! (I bet she goes there.) I hope this acceptance will allow us to relax. |

| We got our first waitlist today - a school we thought was a safety. That's really helpful. We can extend this into May or June now if she goes for it... doesn't seem to end. And that's not factoring the $ part in yet either. At least we have a really good state backup, and still waiting on first choice. |

| D is very impatient to know her full choice set before thinking too hard about where she wants to go; her impatience is growing as more and more people she knows hears back from their applications (to different schools.) Right now I'm doing slightly better than she is, thanks to CC, because I know no one is yet hearing RD from the other 2 schools to which she applied. I expect that will change when the acceptance posts start coming in on those threads. The irony of the situation is that I really don't think either of the schools will be her ultimate choice even if accepted to both. Go figure. |

| singermom, keep in mind that sometimes safety-level schools waitlist students precisely because they suspect that they are being used as a safety, and they don't want to offer a spot to a student who probably won't come. They have enough experience to know when a student's stats & accomplishments are too high for their typical enrollees.... so essentially they are betting, based on experience, that your d. is going to get admitted to more competitive colleges. |

| My D has asked me at least three times in the past week what is wrong with me because I've been so testy. So far she's gotten three accepts, but the two aid packages we've seen were NOT what I was expecting, so I'm really stressed/worried about paying for school. Ugh.
I think a lot of her schools mailed their letters yesterday, so hopefully by the middle of next week much of THAT worry will be done with.
And this whole process has been difficult, especially when she'd come home and say 'Suzie got into every school she applied to', 'Mary heard from 5 of her 6 schools already' and we're sitting here with NOTHING.
One of her schools has said they'll mail their letters April 1, and I *really* hope they're going to mail them a little earlier so we can start moving forward .... with loan apps.
I've already told my youngest that she's not going to college, I can't take the stress. |

| LOL, Denise, I know. I have to apologize. I have for the moment become one of those parents whose cheeriness in announcing their child's latest acceptance--especially at a school my S had applied to and not heard from--made me grind my teeth.
At least until we see the FA package. Then I may be plunging into the Stress Pit again. |

| It is SO stressful, isn't it? I got the "MOM I DO NOT WANT TO TALK ABOUT THIS" and the eye rolls last night! I would say most of my friend's sons have not shot very high for college (including the ones who could have) and that has been difficult too. He has always been an outside of the box type of kid and gone his own path though so he will be fine.
BTW - once the acceptances are done, this site is very useful in the summer. When #1 went off to University of Michigan, I hooked in with that forum and found out alot of useful information. Plus there were some great links on what to take and what not to take. |

I can understand you. I felt the same a week ago - everyoe was being accepted and we were JUST WAITING. It will change. For us it changed a week ago. Two acceptances in a mailbox, a scholarship, anoter acceptance today. Now we are running with the pack - a graduate transition from "will she be accepted at least somewhere" to "what to choose and how to pay for it".
But honestly, just remind yourself - your late respone is probably because your DD applied to top schools. Most people are still waiting for replies from HYP (very few got likely letters). Those, who got many acceptances are frequently the kids with safety-heavy lists.
Our example: I came to CC in late November and understood that DD's only safety is not safe this year. OK, she added 3 more schools to the initial 9. Now she is accepted to those 3 additional schools ... and to her initial safety. Having several acceptances is really worth money spent on those extra apps (and they took very little time). But in terms of top choices .... WE ARE STILL WAITING. DD can only go to one school, and it is her dream school that she cares about. |

Congratulations to those with good news, best of luck to all those waiting and also to those struggling with decisions.
(We are doing all three now.....hope it all becomes clearer very soon) |

| Consolation - if you check your mailbox you may get another pleasant surprise: we just found an acceptance from Rochester (if you care having UofC in hand ...) |

| Nothing here yet from Rochester either. We got a big ole whopping financial aid letter for Case but I think he has ruled that one out (NOT enough to actually call them and say no thanks yet though). Yesterday we got the financial aid thing from Pitt - he is getting full tuition offered there. So there ARE options, just not sure yet that they are THE options!
Oh yeah - and today my mom said with a completely straight face - so did Adam ever narrow it down from the 44 colleges he applied to? I was floored - I said I think he applied to 8 or 9 schools. She said NO I definitely told her 44. This is why one must be careful about being facetious! |

| Here is my solution to the stress factor - my H & D are out of the country for the next 10 days on a school trip and I can't communicate with them! It leaves me free to be as stressed as I want without worrying I'm upsetting either of them (which I've been doing). D has been accepted to all of her safeties and some matches, rejected by 2 matches (!) and we are waiting for one more match where she really wants to go and 2 reaches (highly improbable). Though I am addicted to CC I do find the incredibly high stats of these kids a bit intimidating - and I always thought my D was pretty bright ! |

| kitkat, one kid on CC said he had applied to 18. I think that is the highest number I've heard so far. |
