| It could be you did poorly on the test because you have not looked at the concepts for a while or it could be you need the algebra II class. If you are not sure, can you retake the test? My D had math at two different HSs with very different teaching methods, so she has holes in her math. Her first placement test had a lower than expected result. We almost accepted it, due to her "holes" in learning, but decided she should take it once more after further review of general math, to refresh on the concepts, she tested higher- not calc, but not remedial and did fine.
I recall in university a pre-calc course with a first day "where you at" skills test- i failed the test, dropped the class, then took calc the next term (no precalc & no studying) and got 98%. It was too long ago to recall the details, but I will never forget that first ever non-passing score on that precalc exam. |
