| Maybe he pricked himself when he was pinning an American flag on his lapel. Lightning struck and his blood was blue. |

| "I don't think any of you have anything to worry about from McCain. He's not a smear-merchant"
I think this is generally true of him as a person, as it was of Bush Sr., but ultimately both decided that in order to win, they should hire the Lee Atwaters/Karl Roves of the world. I don't think a person hires Karl Rove unless they want him to do Karl Rove work. No one knows better than John McCain exactly what that means (see South Carolina 2000). |

The same argument also proves that McCain WON'T do anything to win. I just don't think McCain is going to be as strong a candidate as others do, but I'll eat my words if I'm wrong. |

| Well, there is a small hope that a Obama v McCain would be a civil contest based on divergent positions on the issues that divide the country.
We know that this would be impossible with the participation of Clinton as everything would conflate to issues of character. |

I don't think it proves that. It proves that McCain DIDN'T do anything to win. It's at least plausible that he "learned" in 2000 that playing filthy leads to the White House, and he won't repeat his mistake of taking the high road. Hiring Karl Rove is quite a piece of evidence in support of this theory.
I really hope I'm wrong. But Karl doesn't come cheap. There are a lot of people you could hire if you just wanted someone who could run a tough, fair-minded campaign. |

| If he wins she has no shot at ever getting the nomination because in 2016 she would be 68+.
Is'nt McCain 70?
oh sorry he will be 72 in August

Thank you Hunt for correcting me. Now excuse me while I go back and cling to my guns. |

| I believe that campaign debt is a big reason for Clinton's continuing. She is probably planning to work out a deal to withdraw in exchange for help in retiring her campaign debt. I would much prefer that she and Bill take care of this - they can well afford it - rather than small donors. Her big donors maxed out long ago and can't be called on again. I am also not happy about the idea of Obama fundraising for this. There are much better uses for donations.
There is absolutely no way that Clinton will even be considered for VP. And she shouldn't be - Obama should choose the person that he thinks is best. |

I think you hit right on it. The last loan was a whopper, wasn't it? THere's also the small thread of hope for her that something will knock Obama out of the race at the last minute. |

This brings up something that I've been wondering about. Hillary Clinton is 60 years old, and she has maintained a brutal schedule for well over a year. How does she manage to look so good, and to be so cheerful and energetic? Even the much younger Obama shows the wear and tear of the campaign on his face sometimes. |

| NYMomof2,
She told us her secret: HOT PEPPERS!
(I think she could raise some money to pay off her debt by endorsing a company that packages and sells them. It would be a good cause, and a green company.)
I'll fess up, the last few trips to the salad bar, I grabbed a pepper or two. The verdict is still out... Hillarys Health Plan: Hot Peppers - Well - Tara Parker-Pope - Health - New York Times Blog
