| We had two on one day last June so I missed D1's college graduation. Fortunately the university web-cast the whole thing (though they didn't call names for all the bachelor's degrees - and had 4 podiums where graduates were getting the handshake and diploma cover) Poured rain the entire time. The field was a sea of umbrellas. I think we exchanged about 100 text messages during the speeches. |

| My high school graduation was held on the football field. They had set up folding chairs for us, and we had practiced marching in, standing in place, and then sitting as one upon a signal. As it happened, there had been a bit of rain just before the ceremony, and when we all sat, we sat in chairs containing about 1/2 cup of cold rainwater. A big UGHHH!!! rolled across the field. It was pretty funny. |

| Duke had their graduation on Sunday in the heavy rain. It was somewhat ironic that the commencement speaker was talking on and on about global warming while everyone was extremely wet and very cold. She also spoke about how we should not be so greedy and materialistic, yet some savvy vendors were selling lots and lots of "Duke" umbrellas in the background taking advantage of the situation!
Despite the weather it didn't dampen our spirits! One down, one to go! |

| I can't think of any grad moments to share but want to congratulate both your boys, jym! Same to your son, sokkermom. My oldest graduates college in 12 days. Maybe I'll have something to report beyond the usual happy moments. |

| Thanks Soozie and congrats and good luck to your D. Also congrats to jym and your son(s).
A few of us have gone through this amazing time together! It will be interesting to see what the future holds for all these new graduates.
I hope you both stay on with cc and continue to offer your advice and support. We are just starting the pre-college journey with # 2......
Congrats to all the other graduates and all the cc families who have shared stories over the past four + years! Thanks for your support.
With best wishes,
The Sokker Family! |

| When I graduated from high school (many, many years ago), the class was gathered together and we were told what was 'acceptable' graduation attire. Light colored dresses for the girls, dark colored dress slacks and light shirts for the boys, NO JEANS, etc.
So we marched across the field and sat down on the bleachers, and a whole group of boys were wearing their dark dress slacks, and underneath they had neon orange socks, bright blue, cardinal red, black and white striped, etc. They didn't really show until they sat down and their slacks rode up, and everyone cracked up. |

| Not really a funny moment, but one of my all time favorite pictures of my son is a picture during his HS graduation ceremony a couple years ago. He was walking back to his seat after getting his diploma when he looked up to see us, he held up his diploma and gave us what was probably the biggest smile I have ever seen on his face. We managed to take a picture at that exact moment, it was perfect. |

| Our beloved hs principal was retiring. As he handed each grad their
diploma, they each gave him a small snickers bar. |

| LOL. I just remembered at S's HS grad a couple of years ago, many of the seniors gave the principal a marble as they shook his hand. He had quite a collection by the end!
This year son's college graduation was on Mother's Day, so all of the speakers at each event had to mention what a great present it was. And it truly was. My kids gave me a card but I told them the graduation was all I really needed. And all that day (all weekend, actually) we ate out or went to receptions and a picnic so I didn't have to cook or clean up anyway! |

| At S#1's Swarthmore graduation last year, the engineering students engaged in what I understand is an annual ritual to "do something different." When the first engineering student was presented with his diploma he turned toward the bell tower on campus and pointed what looked from a distance like the antenna of a remote control device. He rang the bell once, turned and passed the device to the next engineering student, and so on and so on. Unfortunately, the device eventually malfunctioned, but we all got the point and applauded wildly. |
