Why would he want a VP nominee who voted for the War (and likely favored war with Iraq in 1998, along with Biden, Richardson, Dodd, Lieberman, Gore, etc.), who worked for the passage of NAFTA, and may have been partial to her husband's genocide?

I'll give her the benefit of the doubt on the last and so think she (unlike her husband) should escape a prison cell for the rest of her life, but I hardly think her long record of bad judgment and incompetence qualifies her for any appointed governmental position past dogcatcher.

I see way too much dissing of dogcatchers on this forum. Obama supporters think Hillary could be a good dogcatcher, Hillary supporters think Obama could be a good dogcatcher. Let me tell you something- I don't think either of them would be able to do that job.

Oh, I didn't suggest she'd be a "good" dogcatcher - her record of poor judgment and incompetence leaves that in question. What I did say is that her track record suggests she lacks the qualifications for anything past that. (you can decide whether that means higher or lower. )

The decision on who will be the running mate will be primarily based on who will help the ticket win in November. I don't see Hillary serving that purpose as well as a white male centrists from the South would. On the other hand, I guess it might keep her supporters from crossing over to McCain or sitting on their hands.

Think about where Obama was last winter - way behind in the polls, "too inexperienced", little support from African-American voters. He's shown a remarkable capacity to get voters to take a new look at him and rethink their positions. I don't believe that he feels he has to accept a VP he doesn't want in order to appeal to constituencies that don't support him at present. There are five months between June and November; the man has shown that he can change a lot of minds in five months.

I watched a talking heads show this weekend and they were discussing the possibility of Obama offering Clinton the VP slot. One of them had a great line; "Well, if she does take the VP slot, Obama had better hire a food taster."

I thought that was funny.

Nah... It would have to look like suicide or accident, or like Michele did it.

But seriously, just a cursory look at what's happened to an astounding number of people who have crossed Bill, and you find plane crashes, suicides, and "accidents" a plenty. Having Hillary just one heart beat away from my Presidency would give me great pause if I were in Obama's position..

The biggest problem of having Clinton as VP would start if Obama cum Clinton happened to win. The chances for the both parties to work together on real solutions would again be reduced to nil by the mere presence of Hillary at the negotiation table.

Momofnew, I don't think talking to people about possible cabinet positions is in any way underhanded --

Calmom I agree. But earlier you used the words 'privately promise' which is very different from talking to potential cabinet members. Additionally there is much baggage between Sens Obama and Clinton which, IMHO, would contaminate the appearance of business as usual in cabinet appointment discussions. It could be seen as a way of buying her off or appeasing her.

Eight Belles came in second too, but they didn't drag her limp body to the awards ceremony and put a medal around her neck.

I don't believe the Clintons had anybody killed, because if they did that sort of thing, there are several other people they would have targeted.

This news more or less confirms rumors that have been kicking around Democrat circles in NYS for a while now that Hillary is tired of being a junior Senator with little liklihood of moving into a leadership spot anytime soon. I guess NY has served its purpose.

Guess that's what happens when you elect carpetbaggers.

Go Hope?
