| ever met a CCer? Did you ever read someone's postings here and think "OMG, I know who that is!"?
Or attend a college information session, start up a conversation with someone, and find out that you and s/he had been chatting on this forum? |

| I've had my suspicions lol. But I've never had the nerve to actually ask the person. That would be quite awkward to say the least! |

| I led a local college information session for a nonprofit that I'm on the board of, and a parent who visited that session announced that she is a CC lurker. I was glad to meet her. I've met a few other parents who read my posts since then. I also knew some CCers in real life before any of us were on CC. |

and trust me we are not going to discuss BO. |

| I'd be very easy to recognize from anyone local. I haven't recognized anyone except a couple of people I knew from AOL, but have never met in real life. One had the same screenname, they other I was familiar with the story of her kids.
I have met CCers at a big get together in NY. |

| I've met 3--two parents, one student. The student ended up living on my floor, and we found out we knew each other because we were commenting on a topic and had a shared experience. I met one parent at a recruitment session/scholarship interview day that I was assisting at last year (and I see her daughter around--and always think that it's weird that I talk to her mom online), and I met the another parent while I was working at new student Orientation...both parents approached me (I had told them who to look for) introducing themselves by their CC username haha. |

| I've had three planned meetings and another person I already knew I recognized from posts. In constant contact with all 4! Great way to make friends. |

| I had a lovely lunch with Chedva! Also met a CC'r at my son's college, then found out there were 2 more on his floor (then I felt guilty because I had talked about his college search online. If he wanted people in his dorm to know his story it should have been his choice to reveal it, not mine. Not that there was anything bad or unusual, I just felt that I had somehow violated his privacy.) |

| I'm kind of a too much information guy, but my son reports that he is locally famous in his current summer program as tokenadult's son. I try to share what I know, and I guess that gets some appreciation that other members of my family hear about. |

| I have met many CCers in RL but not in the way that the OP described by accident. These were arranged. In fact, I believe I will be meeting a CCer on this thread in the near future! |

| I met one at our daughters' first year orientation. We had arranged to meet up beforehand, having made contact on our ds' school's thread. Nice having someone to connect with at that time! |

| Met some other Bay area moms and took a nice long walk through the hills, very fun to just talk about the kids and put faces with names. I met a mom when we were visiting a school for my youngest and the girl across from my DDs freshman room was a CCer, somehow I figured that out from postings, that was an odd familiarity.
About 8 years ago on that "other" board I figured out one of my DDs best friends in HS was posting, the combo of the stories plus using mom's maiden name, which I knew, made it clear- that felt awkward, so I stayed off that forum for a few weeks and was really careful for a long time to not be too obvious, as I would not have wanted him to determine who I was. I felt i should give him space as he was the HS kid trying to learn, but I cringed to think of him recognising me.
It does not bother me to be recognised by adults, but I do feel that I owe it to my kids to not reveal things about them to other kids.
I post on the board for my Ds school and there are always a lot of questions when it is scholarship time; she works in an office that awards quite a few scholarships, not only does she answer my questions, but after seeing so many questions people have she is trying to improve the office processing and has asked the head of the department to add "checking CC questions" as one of the intern duties, so that questions are quickly answered right from the source. |
