historymom, wah!
Hoped to meet you in Claremont.
Scripps not smart enough.
Your bright young lady
has a wonderful future --
please share this with her:
Sweet, smart hist'rygal,
so many places want you --
you're a hot prospect.
geek_son might miss you,
but Scripps doesn't deserve you!
Make 'em take a hike!
When you're a rich grad,
send your school a big fat check
and Scripps a carbon
with a little note --
"This, and I, could have been yours."
Take that, stuck-up school!

College differs from prom
Because not everybody
Leaves with who brought them.

If twin isn't in,
No hope for my D next year.
Claremont. Too pop'lar
Damn, would fit her good.
Who told everyone elsewhere
about Scripps? Damn it.
So selective now.
What are they looking for now?
Twin should be in now.

Oh Hey There Karen
FA awards from Saint M
Makes Twins smile with glee
Earlier the one
from Portland caused rejoicing
See the patern here
Don't give up on Scripps
a math 580 did hurt
D's Acceptance odds

affordable yes
for D least likely to go
not so much for sis
But EFC used
was estimated higer
than reality
adjustments for her
are likely and positive
So glad we made less |

Ah, so many posts,
but the '13 thread's quiet --
grad moms gone summer.
(Hair color cures all --
and if things get really tough?
Margarita mix!)
June is for juniors
beginning applications
with anxious parents.
Just over a year
and done with "senior season,"
now I feel so old!
Today I wondered
where to make my thousandth post
(senior member? w00t!),
for I owe a debt
to other parents who've shared
their experience.
I must pay forward
collective wisdom/support
in my own small way.
So, how to pass on
the wisdom shared on CC
by others before?
The Finaid forum,
where folks busily discuss
merit versus need?
Or on Common App,
where just last January
things were so hectic?
Perhaps Admissions,
where they weigh the pros and cons
of a resume?
Aha! Now I know
The perfect contribution
for my thousandth post!
I'll use it wisely
to stage a resurrection
of the haiku thread!!!
Sigh... Too late, I find
my fav'rite thread's been banished
off to the Cafe....

geek_mom, don't despair!
This thread is such a tonic.
Senior-hood can wait.
Your yellow symbol
Glowing at the lower left
Says you still ponder. |

I commiserate
sharing the dreary indoors
with you, coolweather...
I don't see the sun,
but neither does my grad son,
sleeping in all day!
He worked hard this year
and will work harder next year...
now he takes a break.
I am grateful for
extra hours to pay the bills,
but... I envy him.... |

Why, thank you, geek_mom!
Glad to hear that your grad son
is taking a break.
Mine just left, bound for
a midnight IMAX showing
of Transformers. W00t!
