Ah, teenage romance --
here today, gone tomorrow,
two weeks on average.

How long will it last
before she shows him the door?
Will he dump her first?

Mine doesn't partake,
but loves to participate
in the betting pool.

Just got a voice mail:
"Forgot my sneakers -- bring them?"
I will; he said please.

But I scratch my head:
How could he have missed them?
They're a size 13!

You too, Harriet?
I worry about commutes
when they're out of state!

Hey there, Lafalum,
your son was sick yesterday?
How is he today?

Each year gets better
But I recall some doozies:
Specs in the Hudson. . . .

We've come a long way
Since the second pair of specs
And the single shoe.

Oh my, big bummer.
Glasses fell in the river?
Glad mine goes without.

Sure they'll be ok...
I guess this is growing up...
but I'm still nervous.

Used to send boxes
to heroes in the sandbox
packed with little treats.

(November through March,
we get to send 'em chocolate!
Other months, it melts.)

Food, clean clothes, supplies --
You can cram amazing stuff
in a flat-rate box.

Complete set of sheets
plus fresh cookies and goodies...
the trick's a vacuum.

In California,
stuff is crazy expensive.
Why not send from home?

When September comes,
My Soldiers' Angels training
will serve geek_son well.

He has requested
that maybe I learn how to
send a lasagne.

Think I could freeze it
and wrap it up really tight
along with dry ice?

she searches in vain
for missing shoe in back seat
Toddler tossed it

Today DS said
Mom I have no shirt to wear
Does his own wash too

My son had gf
he played basketball at lunch
So she dumped him quick

Now he really knows
Middle school girls need effort
Who needs the drama

When he was tiny
It made me cry to realize
Some girl would take him

@historymom:

geek_son loves HMC
in part because of Jay's Place --
Mudders so friendly!

(Free food didn't hurt --
after all, a teenage guy
needs his sustenance. )

I've heard that Scripps has
some excellent dining halls.
Maybe they'll meet there!

@historymom, when the time comes:

Not losing a son...
You'll be gaining a daughter.
(Yeah, right -- whatever.)
