Banff Mountain Film Festival

We saw a screening last night in our area. The tour is headed to Charlottesville and then Blacksburg next. I think the selection of films may vary by area since one film featured a Richmond person. We saw a series of 9 short films (3-18 minutes) that mostly featured outdoor adventure sports (back country skiing, class 5 kayaking, rock climbing). Pretty inspiring stuff that I think many college students would enjoy. There is a youtube video that gives you an idea.

The video had breathtaking visuals. I sent the video link and info to my son at UVA. He and his friends would love to see the entire series of films. Thanks for info.

Our UVA son said he would go tonight too.

The web site lets you look up their schedule, by state. They take the screening to hundreds of cities, so people in other parts of the country can check. We had never gone before but will make this an annual event when it comes to Richmond. They held it in a Chesterfield County high school auditorium that was way too small, so every seat filled and then some. They really need to do the screening downtown at someplace like VCU.

I talked to my son, and he was going to call the number on the link for Blue Ridge Mtn Sports to find where and what time it was going to be shown. He and his friends are going to see it too.
