Skipping back a few posts..... fireworks are illegal here, too, ucla_ucsd_dad. But just as I saw tons of signs selling fireworks on I10 outside of your area, there are tons of them in NH just over our border.

I'm quite sure our fine law enforcement officials are aware they could haul in numerous scofflaws if they showed up on any lakeshore on the weekend in question. But they're probably all busy enjoying the show in their own lakeside "camps" (Mainers' word for vacation cabins).

Hope everyone enjoyed their summer here in the Boston area. It lasted so far for 2 days. (And June was the month with the least amount of sunshine since 1903. July doesn't look much better.)

Glad to see you New Englanders still have a sense of humor!
I'm going to NH this weekend and a little bit worried.

Sorry Boston, I did not take your nice weather back to Seattle. It is dark and gloomy here, too. At least the 4th was wonderful in both places. H and I watched the spectacular fireworks display from the sidewalk on the Cambridge side of the river, and our kid managed to find her buddies who saved her a front row seat on the other side. Despite the two really rainy days and a delayed flight, we enjoyed our visit to MA.

We just had 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch hail coming down hard followed by sheets of rain in Southern NH. Set off a few car alarms in the parking lot.

Don't know about NYC, but ten miles west, in NJ, it's raining. Again.
