^^Right. That ain't fasting. That looks like a fairly well-balanced, healthy vegetarian diet. A little light on protein maybe, but could go more or less forever on a diet like that. Toss in a little soy to boost protein and you're there.

OP's plan looks nothing like a healthy vegetarian diet--there's no protein, no fat. I think it is indeed, a fast. Two weeks of this would be debilitating and possibly dangerous. If a teenaged girl started eating that way, she be evaluated for anorexia immediately. OP says she is basing this plan on material she has read. There's a huge amount of junk science out there, books that push fads and aren't worth the paper they're printed on. Why adopt such an extreme and unorthodox diet that no physician or dietician would ever recommend? This is voodoo nutrition.

I am with hmom about the cravings, I cut down on meat years ago and really have no interest in it most of the time. If some one has a great prime rib, yeah, I will try a bite or two, but that is really all I can eat, I just don't find it appealing. I am really not a vegetarian, yet I eat almost no meat, I eat everything else in the meal instead and that is enough. And lots of non-meat protein, too, always protein with nuts, dairy, and legumes.

Same with fast food, we very very rarely eat fast food, maybe in desperation on a trip and I feel greasy and unclean afterwards, even if I like the taste I don't like the way I feel.

This has not happened, though, with cookies

I agree with the protein point. In my case when not enough fish and legumes in a day. I use whey protein powder shakes.

>>...there's no protein, no fat<<

You're right. It's too light on the fat too. I should have said add soy and peanuts. Then you could go a long time on that diet. Wouldn't be to my taste, but no one eating all that stuff should kid themselves that they are "fasting."

If merely cutting out certain kinds of food qualifies as fasting, then I guess the Atkins low-carb/heavy-on-the-meat-and-eggs diet could be considered "fasting" too.

I generally think we eat very unhealthy as a society. Even those of us that consider ourselves (myself included) to eat healthy. We eat too much in general, too much meat, too much starch, not enough veggies, not enough greens.
So eat better all the time. Eat less if you eat too much, eat less meat, eat more veggies, eat more greens. 50-60% of your calories should come from carbohydrates, 20-30% from protein, 20-30% from fat.

If you want to eat a more healthful diet, eat a more healthful diet; no fasting necessary.

Do as the Okinawans do - apparently, they stop eating when they feel 80% full. It works
