Patience is a virtue...

December 1, 2008, I was laid off (along with 500,000 others in my county alone) from a job I adored, with people who "got me" and appreciated my work, and my work ethic.

I spent the last 11 months writing and compiling many (MANY) short stories and essays about my life and all its twists and turns, written with a humorous bent (not all, but most) and reacquainting myself with me.

About every 6 weeks I'd stop in to my old office (it's a block from my library) and say hi, making sure they remember my face (there were 3 of us in there).

Tuesday I did my drop in, bringing some organic apples which I claimed had some "hire me back potion" in them. Apparently they really did...

...I got a call, and a rehire letter this morning! Back to work Monday, same job, a minor reduction in wages (as everyone in the company had in March and April).

I couldn't be happier (unless I won the lottery)...

Meanwhile I've lost 20 pounds and have nothing to wear...hello TJ Maxx...

Wow. Just wow.

Congratulations, "just"aMom. What great news. It's wonderful that you spent your unwelcome time off doing things that were rewarding, too.

Congrats! Maybe they are right and the recession really is over!

(I've been laid off twice and both times was rehired by the same company, I think it happens more often than we realize.)

Awesome. I always gain weight when I am stressed out or have too much time on my hands. Congratulations! On a side note my HS chemistry teacher always said "patience is a virture never found in men and seldom found in women."
Definitely not PC in today's world but it sure stuck in my head and made me open your thread!

Your employer is lucky to have gotten you back. Now they won't have to retrain a complete stranger and take a chance on her fitting in. Congratulations to you!!

Congratulations......

Patience is a virtue....I ask for some every XMAS and am usually found wanting!!

I am so glad this worked out for you....kudos to have the stamina to go back in on a regular basis.... you have real character.... you understood it was not personal.....

I hope you enjoyed your "vacation" and I suspect you will approach your days a tad bit differently going forward. Best wishes......
