Michael Jackson's 'This is It'

I saw it. I loved it. So much so that when it was over (be sure to sit through the credits), I went and bought another ticket and an hour later saw it again. I could have sat in the theater all night long. Really.

It was a lovely piece and it made me feel great watching it and thinking how lucky I was to have a front row seat to what would have been his final performance(s).

The music is brilliant, the choreography mesmerizing, the extras they were working on were over the top...in a good way.

I will probably go to see it again before it goes off the big screen.

Anyone else willing to admit they saw it? (Like being a "Fanilow" - a fan of Manilow)

DD 12 is seeing it with a friend Saturday. It is really going to be her introduction to MJ. She is very excited to go. The show is already sold out, by the way ! I feel bad I can't go with her...

Kelowna - even if you can't go with your D, find the time to go. You won't be disappointed.

Does anyone know why the film is only being shown for 2 weeks? Is that just a tactic to drive in big numbers early, then extend the run due to "demand?"

I'll probably go see it this afternoon. I look forward to seeing all the choreography. I always thought he was a better dancer than singer.

The critics seem to hate it, but that's not going to keep me away. Going tomorrow. Oh wait, I didn't know about the 2 weeks thing. What's that all about?

Actually, on Rotten Tomatoes, it got an 80% favorable rating by the critics. I'm seeing it tomorrow.

From The LA Times: Sony Pictures desperately wanted to release the DVD of the Michael Jackson concert movie "This Is It" for the holiday shopping season but backed down after movie theater owners complained that it would be too soon after the film's theatrical premiere.

That thwarted the latest attempt by a Hollywood studio to shorten the "window" between when movies appear in theaters and when they come out on DVD as the industry grapples with a downturn in DVD sales, which have traditionally propped up the movie business........

....re the reviews...I have yet to read a negative one.

Our local critic gave it an A. Not sure I can trust him though as I've liked lots of movies he has panned. Dh wants to see it at the IMAX. Any opinions/experience with that?

I just got back from seeing This Is It. I loved it. I enjoyed watching the creative process involved in putting on such a big show. Michael Jackson was truly a brilliant performer. Contrary to all the reports that he had been in poor health, he seemed to be incredibly fit. The dancing he was doing on a daily basis would have been impossible for someone not in pretty good health.

Seeing how hard all of the supportive players worked in preparation for this tour, I am glad for their sakes as well as for the fans that the movie was made and we got to appreciate their talents.

Yes, I fully agree, and I also agree that he looked and performed incredibly well. There was nothing that stood out to me that shouted "ill" or "unwell". Tragic.

The creative work to put on a show was fascinating. Two of the songs have been playing in my head since I saw it.

I put Michael Jackson's "Ones" album (essentially greatest hits) on while I worked out this morning. That was the easiest "hard" workout I've ever done. My heart monitor watch says I burned 530 calories. I'll have to start using up tempo music to work out to from now on instead of Home and Garden channel, ha ha.

I'm with you cotton-I've been hearing "The Way You Make Me Feel" for a day and a half now.

Nrdsb4 - the first time I fell "in love" with Michael Jackson's music was 1980. I was taking "Jazzercise" and the instructor played "Off the Wall" (Don't Stop Till You Get Enough, Rock With You, Working Day and Night, Get on the Floor and more). She had recorded it so the "slow" numbers were the warm up and cool down. That album is still on my iPod, and I still use it for exercising. It is a surefire way to burn extra calories!

Now, I'm in the process of finding singles (on iTunes) that I simply have to have (like I'll Be There)!
