KitKats, Snickers, and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, two to a customer -- but nobody has shown up yet. Every year, there seem to be fewer trick-or-treaters, even when Halloween is on a weekend, as it is this year.
Most of that candy is going to end up in the communal kitchen at my office, where it will vanish within minutes. If I keep it, my husband and I will eat it, and we shouldn't.

Marian, I hear you. We have lots of 25-35 year olds at my work. When the word goes out that there is candy, donuts, (fill in the blank for sweet carbs) it it like the old nature programs about lemmings or vultures!

I bought a bag of Reeses' pb cups and a bag of KitKats "just in case." No one will come -- we're too rural. Gosh; what a shame. We'll have to eat them ourselves.
This is when I really miss having my boys home. They'd eat them and gain an ounce. DH and I will eat them and gain 20 pounds. |

There certainly is a thread for everything on CC!
I heard today on a morning show that over 75% of T or T'ers want chocolate. My kids confirm this survey!! (As my D2 said, "What's up w/ popcorn balls? Who would ever want one of them"?)
So, given I was always disappointed w/ candy other than chocolate, it's reeses, kitkat, hersheys, anything chocolate. Two big bags from BJ's.

Same here, all chocolate from Costco.
They are so cute, those little kids. The weather is really bad here, so we are not getting as much traffic. I am sitting in my study (front of the house) surfing the net and giving out candies. I am telling them to take a handful. We can't have any left overs.

Quite a few costumes tonight that needed explanations--that's what happens when your kids are older, you lose touch. One little girl identified herself as Lola from Hannah Montana, another was Sharpay from High School Musical. Disney runs the world. But there were two Oz Dorothy's, so some classics still hang on.
I'm about 3/4 through my 60 goodie bags, but I know in another half hour the doorbell will stop ringing. The parade started well before dark, but we have rain threatening, so I'm sure some thought they should try to beat the drops. It's actually pretty hairy to be out in the rain with all the slippery leaves--our streets and driveways are covered with 'em. But it's very warm tonite, in the 60's, which is so nice for the kids--no need to stick sweaters and jackets under the costumes as in some years.

I bought a huge bag of Skittles and Starbursts, because I don't like them.
And bags of Kit Kats and Twix, because I do.

It's now 7:35 p.m and we've had four kids so far. Could be because it wasn't dark until almost seven so the first one came at 6:50. I think they should change the clocks before halloween like they used to.

We've had a bunch of kids so far and I hope we don't run out of candy! They've been coming in packs of 6-8 kids at a time.
One of the houses down the road is serving hamburgers and hot dogs to the kids. Every year, the family sets up a big table and a grill in their front yard and feeds the trick-or-treaters.
We had one kid dressed up like trash---he cut out the bottom of a plastic garbage can and put shoulder straps on the top to hold it up. Then he glued (or duct taped) empty wrappers and chip bags to the outside of the can.
It's refreshing to see how polite a lot of the teenagers have been-----most saying "thank you" and asking how many candies they can take. Very nice.
We ran out of the mini bags of chips. The older kids seemed to go straight for the Doritos.

We are giving out the big bars (Sam's Club boxes) of Kit Kats, Twizzlers and 3 Musketeers. So far, 3 Musketeers seem to be the most popular (and my son won't be pleased, since that is his favorite and he hopes for many leftovers). We have had about 30 kidlets so far and I expect more in the next hour. We will turn off all the lights when we have had enough. Ding dong!!! Bye

Our neighborhood has a party for the kids, and then when it ends (at 6:30) they come to the houses. Its been drizzling tonight so the turnout is lighter. There are a lot of cars out front and people who are not from the neighborhood too. They drive over from other areas . We had a few adult-looking folks as a well. That was a new twist.

We bought two big bags, one of like Kit-Kats, Snickers, etc and the other of Skittles, M&Ms, etc.
We don't get but a few trick-or-treaters, so my Dad and I will end up eating most of it.

We haven't started here yet on the westcoast (still sunny where I am), but we have a giant box of potato chips, and bags of sour jelly candies.
